The only way to beat UCONN is to have Hibbert playing serious minutes and having his best game of the year. We are completely overmatched in the frontcourt without him and nobody else can make up for the differential there. So he needs to somehow outplay Boone/Villanueva or at least play them even in terms of points, rebounds and blocks. JTIII's "small ball" won't work against this team and he should know that after the 2 previous games against them. Live or die with Roy tomorrow.

We will need an inside presence for sure, and if it comes from Hibbert then I think we will be in good shape. Up in Uconn we shot the lights out in the first 10 minutes, then came back down to earth and got hammered with no inside presence/rebounding. We will need these tomorrow night.

I'd take it a step further, and bench Jon.
Hibbert - Green - Bowman - Owens - Cook.
Then I'd throw Owens onto Williams and see if his size might change some things.

I like that match-up of Owens on Williams...I do worry about Williams' quickness though... I think Roy would have to score 10-15 points...and not just during garbage time...and grab us about 10 boards...or at least keep Boone and Villanueva off the glass... I just think Roy is about a year and a half away from being what we need him to be tomorrow night... But...we don't have to lose...as many 'plusses' the Huskies may have over us, we don't have to lose tomorrow night...

I say have crawford guard williams for some time and see how that works. But owens could be great.

To be fair, Reed was the only guard who could keep up with Williams last time...

I am hoping that Roy's minutes were intentionally held low yesterday in anticipation of a game against the Huskies. He played well the last game during garbage time, but I hope that gives him the confidence to take the initiative inside. If nothing else, if he keeps Villanueva and Boone off the boards that would be a huge help for us.
After last game, I would hope JTIII will allow Crawford or Reed to guard Williams from the beginning. I could see Owens being used as well but we may need his 6'6" on another player to get more involved in closing out possessions with some boards.

I don't think JTIII would keep Hibbs on the bench in a nailbiter to rest him for a game that might never come, I think it was just too fast paced for Roy, not good matchups. That said, we need him BIGTIME tonight to battle with the Huskie big guys. And PLEASE, no silly reaching fouls, we need every minute we can get from you! HOYA SAXA!
