Off the bench, and Reed should be around the 9th man in the rotation. How many lay-ups did that guy miss wide open. Crawford plays D. Wallace had a decent game but he and Reed continue to let guys fly right by them, and I hate that the most about the both of them. Owens should start and move Cook to the point. That is the shake up needed. Another 8 minutes with out points against UCONN, we will be in trouble.

I agree that Reed was missing layups...but he played solid D and got the biggest stop of the game.

I saw Reed miss one layup, but also saw Cook miss one, Bowman one and Owens one (I think). Also saw Wallace take three backdoor cuts and not get anything off. And I saw Ray make a nice shot as well, and play good defense.
Why is this guy held to a completely different standard than any other player?

I'm not sure what game you were watching but Reed (outside of a couple of fouls) played great D while he was in there. He forced a charge and stopped the penetration for the most part. He actually did some nice things on offense too, but the missed layups were killing me.
Ashanti Cook looked really bad tonight and hasn't played well recently. I'm wondering if he isn't banged up because I really thought he was one of the most improved players after our first half of the schedule.

Ray also got 4 rebounds...and he's under 6ft tall.

I agree, Ray is there for his quicknesson D which he used to guard Copeland and Cerasoli, he made some nice stops and stayed in front of his man. On offense, he needs to go strong and not be intimidated when in the paint. He played well though, we ended the game on a 23-7, that is defense.

Ray Reed is all about defense, which is something easy for a casual fan to miss. Sure, the sexy choice is to bring in Tyler and never put Ray in because hes not a prolific scorer, but Ray is at times the only solution for Jon getting smoked on the defensive end of the court.

Ray may be better than Jon on D, but he's not so much better than Tyler on D that it merits him coming off the bench before Tyler. Tyler is bigger, stronger, just as quick, and is a little more controlled on the offensive end. He also is a threat to score, either from outside (as he's done in the past) or on some back cuts (like he did once tonight). Ray needs to work on his shot and become a little more controlled on the offensive end before he can really be a well-rounded backup PG.
I think Tyler has the capability to be our stopper - the guy we stick on the other team's best guy to shut him down. On top of that, he has some offensive skill that can definitely come in handy. Nothing against Ray, but I think Tyler is simply more physically capable of that job.

I have only seen the Hoyas play 3 times but count me among those who want more Tyler Crawford. He's ACTIVE and has a bounce in his step and game that seems to bring some energy and life to the team. His layup tonight was because he cut to the basket hard and he's always going all out which puts pressure on opposition. His foul with us making a run and SH facing 10 seconds on Shot Clock was frustrating but I liked the intensity and his willingness to do something. So often I see the kids thinking and trying to figure out the set, play, etc.. and they need to just play basketball, as III said in Halftime Interview. Crawford does this and it's refreshing to watch.

This is only 8th billionth post about this very same subject.

I think if Crawford would of had more playing time during the season, he could of developed into a more dangerous threat. i think he is head and shoulders above Reec in talent. And I believe his defense is better, I know others missed layups last night, but is it me or do you all get nervous when Reed has the ball in his hands? NOW be truthful.

Oh I won't say I'm not nervous, but the truth of the matter is, with this current team I'm nervous when any of them have the ball. We just don't have that gutsy, tough nosed, penetrating ballhandler that gives me confidence. None of our guards pass particularly well. None seem to be able to penetrate. None are particularly good ballhandlers. Not yet anyways.
I'm not saying they are bad, there is just no one who is exceptional who I would feel WAY more secure with the ball in their hands.
