As I said in another thread (and risking being a bad BE fan) I could not have been happier with RU's win tonight......

As well as Uconn is playing and as well as all the analysts think UConn is, if we beat them, I would say we are in.
Despite our collective "the sky is falling" attitude, most analysts have us right on the edge of the bubble. The win over Seton Hal definitely helped, and I think UConn pushes us over.
Of course, the young Hoyas are going to have to play the game of the season to win.

I don't know about win and we're in.
I do know that lose and we're out.
So let's win.

The RPI is the SAT of stats. That needs to be in the 40's for an at large team to get consideration. It's automatic bid or bust. No, the RPI is the BCS of stats. It is horrifically flawed and is far inferior to even a cursory "common-sense" analysis.

Just for kicks:
Hands up...How many of us would have killed our dogs to be having this conversation last year?
(no, I don't hate dogs, but I am going to be obsessing all day about our upcoming opponent, so I think that's why that particular act of violence popped into my head; either that or I was thinking of an old James Taylor song)
Don't get me wrong. Like everyone else, three weeks ago I thought we were locks and then the other shoe dropped. And I don't think we should just be happy about some improvement and not continue to want more and more.
But still, its a lot more fun this March than it was last March.
Now. Having said all that feel-good nonsense. . .DAMMIT HOYAS, GO OUT THERE AND WHUP THOSE @$%^@%^@$%&@ HUSKIES! pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease
Praying to actual saints didn't work so well for us the last time, so this time, I will be praying to Superman, Jebus and Ted Nugent for a victory.
And does anyone else think B.C. could very easily go down today? I am very, VERY worried about that.

The RPI is the SAT of stats. That needs to be in the 40's for an at large team to get consideration. It's automatic bid or bust. I suppose that's possible. It used to be true, more or less (though as high as 75 has gotten a bid). But with the change to the formula, I don't know if the old rule will hold.

Over the Irish, who have a better conference record than us? Over an 8-8 or 7-9 ACC team that may win one or two in their tourney? Over Southern Illinois and some other mid-majors that might sneak in? I would love for the Hoyas to get in...but I know what we have to do for that to happen...and unless we make it to the final, it will probably not be enough... Irish are out... Maryland too... Let's see if you've managed to curse some other teams too...watch out Indiana...
