So do we need to continue the tradition of the new play-in game making it to the FF...I believe

I don't know why you're making predictions for 2012-13 already, westend.

Assuming Hollis jumps, which I think is almost inevitable, we're losing something like 53% of our offensive possessions. Last year, between the five departures (AF, CW, JV, Vee, Benimon), we had to replace 57%, and unlike this year, we won't have an above-average usage player returning. It wouldn't surprise me to end up to see the offense take another step back and the defense stay strong, which would give us an overall profile somewhere between Alabama and USF. I also freely admit I saw this year's team as likely NIT bound and didn't foresee the improved defense coming.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that looked at the title of this thread and thought, WTF? Now, I'm just laughing.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that looked at the title of this thread and thought, WTF? Now, I'm just laughing. You are not. I was particularly confused when I got about ten posts in and there was a reference to "not less than four hours after the most significant recruit in years commits," which got me all excited about Nerlens, but then depressed after reading five pages of hyperanxiety over a twitter post. Glad I finally read all the way through this . . . wow.

In hindsight, I guess I do know a little bit about the game, judging by my posts on the first page of this dumb thread that was created by a true "fan"

UCONN started 3 freshmen in the National Championship game. Granted, it was 3 freshmen and Walker, but it's illustrative of what can happen if things come together at the right time. I'm a heck of a lot more optimistic than I was a month ago. Unfortunately, there is no guard on this team that is anywhere close to a Kemba Walker.

Years? I'd put Nate on the same level as Otto. oh my Coming in, they were ranked about the same. Clearly one is a little bit better than the other. How is it that lic was not the one to dredge up this thread? Is this the new trend - bringing up year-old threads?

Is this the new trend - bringing up year-old threads? Wasn't criticizing, just pointing out how much expectations for recruits can differ from results.

I had to re-read those posts 5 times just to try and figure out what we were talking about.

Related point: Re-reading the Jabril Trawick and Greg Whittington recruiting threads from the beginning was a real treat. Like these posts from the Whittington thread: - Just looking at the videos, he is way too thin to compete in Big East for at least a year, has possible grade issues, and dominates in a weak league. We can/should do better.
- I'm having Jerrelle Bennimon flashbacks...local kid with big stats in a lousy conference. Only difference is it seems like Whittington has slightly better schools interested in him (although not exactly the creme de la creme of high majors). Unless we think Hollis is transferring, I'd say thanks but no thanks.
- Tier 3 recruit.
- Whittington seems like a talented kid--and his talents fit what Hoyas can always use--size/skill/shooting ability. Whether he ever ends up on the hilltop or not--he's at least worth recruiting/keeping up with.
- He seemed a little slow moving in the video Bronxie saw. He would fit in well here.
- Only take him if we whiff on Otto von Porter.
- Is he an offensive player that will be a liability on D?

Related point: Re-reading the Jabril Trawick and Greg Whittington recruiting threads from the beginning was a real treat. From the Trawick thread: - Trawick is more Benimon and it's far too early to be reaching. If this is direction Georgetown is heading-they are in for a bad year recruiting. Not trying to be negative--just being honest.
- I haven't found much info on the internet about this kid. Where is he rated? He's not listed on rivals top 150 for 2011, i'm guessing he's a 3 star or 2 star prospect? I would hope we would be recruiting bigs really hard at this point and not guards..
- At least we should be able to find someone in that group to guard the 2's and 3's that burned us last season.

Best link EVAR from the Whittington thread: maryland.247sports.com/Board/53/Whittington-to-Gtown-1423019/1Whit apparently is the worst human being ever, a real chemistry killer who can't play in the team concept, worse than some German dude named Martin Bruenig and Maryland dodged a real bullet by him committing to Georgetown. Also, hidden fun: If he ends up like Henry Sims, no one will talk about him. They were of course talking about Henry before this season. It's fantastic that the most accurate post on that thread is "Turks are good with knives." I don't know if they are, but it could be right.

I disagree with the basis of this thread. We will actually improve and pressing defense based upon depth provided by the incoming class will have much to do with the fate of the team. I am no so certain that Hollis is gone. I may be just wishfully thinking. Starks and his improvement will be the key to the success of the team. Also I would hope that Otto would remain startng over Nate.
