You have got to be kidding me... We have a great class coming in, with a relatively solid returning presence. Plus these guys have all summer to work on their chemistry in China.
I think we will surprise.

Why do I get the feeling that something was edited out of the initial post (like what "good players" are supposedly "gone")?

Time to use the "ignore" button for the first time; jctn nothing but a hater, never a good word for any part of the program. Most likely an Orange troll.

Next year is step in right direction and needed. This feels a lot more like when III took over and that was exciting/refreshing. Program needed it and excited to see the development no matter how the ending is--they'll be young/able to improve from mistakes instead of old and making same mistakes.

Why do I get the feeling that something was edited out of the initial post (like what "good players" are supposedly "gone")? Maybe you get that feeling because it says edited? And some people consider losing Chris, Austin, and Julian good players, and no matter what they are gone.

i'll take the bait. I do think it will be interesting to see how this team gells after losing our two best players and introducing 5 new faces. it ain't always going to be pretty. pre-porter...i thought we were an NIT team...now I hope for more but ultimately am excited about what the future holds for 2012 and on.
That said, booking my trip for Hawaii now.

This is not an NIT team...even before Porter...anyone who thinks it is, either doesn't know basketball like that, or is just trying to start arguments on the board

This looks to be a transitional/rebuilding year, with the year after possibly being a year to make noise depending on how things shake out this year. Yes we now have the potential for more, but we also have a lot of young guys and older guys who haven't had to carry the leadership burden before. Lets see who transfers, which guys improve, and how ready the freshman are to contribute before we decide what this team is and isn't yet.

Sleepy go see my post in the Hollis thread...I've seen plenty of NIT rosters. This simply isn't one of them

UCONN started 3 freshmen in the National Championship game. Granted, it was 3 freshmen and Walker, but it's illustrative of what can happen if things come together at the right time. I'm a heck of a lot more optimistic than I was a month ago.

I don't disagree with most of what you said, though I do think you are giving Jason Clark a bit too much credit. I just don't think there is anything wrong with this team being an NIT team, based on what we have seen from them so far. I think my main issue is that I think at this point it is hard to really know what our roster for next year is going to look like. Not only due to transfers but also because I'm not sure how about certain players roles and am hesitant to determine the impact of the freshman right now. Especially considering the 3 I'm most excited for are more of under-the-radar late bloomer types. I can say I am very excited about the future, I just wouldn't be incredibly surprised or disappointed with the NIT, it happens.

The Big East, by its lack of wins in the NCAA's (except for UCONN), can expect to receive fewer invites next year because it's generally believed the conference was over-rated this year. This leads to suspicion Hoyas might be NIT bound next year - if they can win 50% of their games, not a certainty, depending on the OOC schedule.
