From his coach: "Hands down, best shooter in the city" "If there are five better pure shooters in the country, I’d be surprised.” “[He has] an off-the-charts work ethic [and] very high IQ,”
I like it! Unless Markel blossoms, a handler is more of a necessity but a lights out shooter always has a spot. Especially if they are willing to work and are smart. Plus being deadly from the midrange as well as the 3 helps.
Article also mentions that he is already working on his weaknesses of handling and finishing at the rim. Plus his D has been improving.
Great find staff!!!

Supposedly took an unofficial visit today. I definitely like the idea of adding a pure shooter to the mix.

Found him in this clip. He hits a number of three's towards the end.

Thanks for the links allenixis. Like the work ethic--something that needs to be a factor when recruiting players going forward. Hunger with some of the players lately has been strictly reserved for where they were going to eat, so reading about someone who puts up 500 shots a day AFTER practicing is impressive. Visit sound like it was good for Brian too, so throw him into mix for '12 now too.

Don't like him at all. He's extremely slow-footed, has no hope, and has not other skillset other than his jumper. He won't be able to create off the dribble, and won't be able to guard anyone. I get that we need shooters, every team does. But I would prefer our shooters to have greater value than this kid.

Am with daytona on this one. Don't see him being able to defend at the big east level. If we get frustrated watching Clark or Freeman defend....frustration levels will be off the charts with this kid.

You guys are writing him off based on some youtube clips? He plays in one of the toughest leagues in the country, and with one of the best AAU programs in the country. If he is really defensively deficient it will be continually exposed.
Listen, I haven't seen him either, and if he's a mid-major talent I'm sure the coaches will determine that. However, adding that level of shooting to the roster is very necessary as I see it.

Only on those clips. It takes him 4 steps to recover every time his guy changes direction. Plus, the one highlight of him taking it to the hole...he gets about 12 inches off the floor and has his shot redirected back in his face. The kid has a sweet stroke...but that alone won't cut it. Just ask nikitta and Vee.

Depends on the team going forward. If you have length/athleticism and good defenders, you can hide a weak spot off the bench.

It's called looking at film.
He's simply not a Big East talent. He should play at Marist or Northeastern, somewhere like that

As he stated in one of the articles above, the kid is adjusting to playing with better, more athletic players than he is used to in his league. He may be slower than some of the players he's guarding, but he kept on hustling. I counted 4 3-pointers, one lay-up and a fake 3 with a follow-up 17-footer. Nice mix! Let's see how his summer goes and how he adjusts, and leave the rest to the staff.

www.gothamhoops.com/?p=5005Brian Bernardi is one of the top rising seniors in the New York City-area. The 6’3 sharp-shooter holds offers from an array of schools such as Boston University, Hofstra and Marist. On Saturday, Bernardi and his father, Charles, visited Georgetown University’s luxurious Washington D.C. campus. “[The coaches] were great,” says Charles. “I can’t say enough about [assistant coach] Mike Brennan and [assistant Director of Basketball Operations] Scott Greenman, great representatives of Georgetown. They spent they day with us and treated Brian like gold.” “They want him back in June to meet the players and to scrimmage with them. Coach Thompson was on a trip but wants to meet with Brian on that return trip.” Bernardi will be touring the country with the New York Gauchos AAU program this Spring but is looking forward to making a return to Hoya-country this Summer.

Pass! We can do a lot better than this. Only way we take him is if we miss on EVERY one of our priority guards. Sorry but this kid's not a BE talent
