they were discussing referees with division one basketball connections, most notably this guy from northern iowa who is a big 10 official as well as northern iowas AD and made a call last week that may help Northern Iowa potentially get an at large. sapposedly Brick used to be a referee but got rid of those duties when he took over as interim AD. had a nice picture of brick on top of the hoya media guide (pic of JTIII)
any publicity is good publicity.

I saw that too, but I doubt that publicity has any impact at all, especially given that Brick declined comment. Brick giving up the reffing gigs undoubtedly had more to do with the immense jump in responsibility involved in running a major D-I AD than with any perceived conflict of interest, but he has not said so himself.
A more notable conflict of interest story would be Buckeye70's favorite Big East official, Timmy Higgins, who has been notably absent from all Georgetown games this year after his brother's role on the coaching search committee. Granted, his brother graduated from Georgetown in 1970 and has been a big supporter of the program since then, so you wonder why Higgins would suddenly feel uncomfortable officiating GU games after 30 years and plenty of abuse from Hoya fans, but I have to think there is a reason his cherubic mug was not seen at MCI this season.

Don't you think the word "cherubic" was conceived with Tim Higgins in mind? I've never seen a word fit a man more perfectly than that.
