I just can't believe some of these posts about "what if we don't make it to the NCAA's next year?" or "is JTIII another Tyrone Willingham?" To me, I feel for a program that needs to change in the right direction, it starts witht the fanbase as well. It seems like some people on this board like to find every minute fault with everything regarding our basketball program, and yet have nothing positive to say. Critques are one thing, but this fatalistic attitude is quite annoying. For example, when we won games this year, I noticed there were very few new threads posted on this board regarding our success, with most posts in the post-game discussion thread of a game. However,as soon as we lost one game and went into our losing slide, new thread after new thread were posted with the resounding theme of "we are doomed" regarding our players, coach, program etc. I think for us to have a winning program, attitudes need to change with the coaching staff, which it has with this new staff. Attitudes need to change with the players on the team, which it has. And finally, attitudes need to change for the better with the fanbase, which to me has not. Hopefully, we can a have a lot more "faith" in our coaching staff, players, and teams of the future and less pessimism.

I hear you the_way. However, what if we actually don't make the NCAAs next year? I mean what if blind faith is sometimes unrewarded in life? What if expectations have been beat out of people for the better part of the last 20 years? What if What if What if?
My real question is: Who is going to police the police?

Well if no one cant see the differance between this years team and last years, I will let you borrow my glasses, but youhave to give them back because I'm near sited, and the things I see for this program and its direction are way past farsighted if you get what i mean.

I second that! The Hoyas are clearly at the beginning of a huge turnaround, and our success is not going to be a mere blip on the radar. Oh no, it's going to be a steady climb that brings us levels of success that challenge our dominance of the '80's. Regardless of how this season ends, we have much to look forward to. With that said, let's focus on getting out of the first round, and then we can start to salivate over getting a little revenge against the "State of UConn," or should I say "USuck, USuck, USuck!"
LET'S GO HOYAS!!! BEAT SHU!

It is the nature of the beast (or in this case the board); they are the perfect vehicle for faceless, nameless venting of the frustrations that all fans have at some point. With college bball, played by 18-22 year old kids, there will inevitably be moaning and groaning as the fortunes rise and fall, and the kids learn, make mistakes, and hopefully grow as players and as a team. Hey, the SU boards lambasted Boeheim regularly - one of the best coaches and recruiters in the history of the game - until he finally won the big one 2 years ago. At least it shows the passion of the Hoya fans, one way or the other.

We found our level, yes, but it was also 100% better in conference than last year. Would like to see better rebounding above all, since we are going to be a stretch-out-each-possession team for the forseeable future. But as bummed as I am about the slide (because we had gotten to 8-3, albeit against the middle/bottom of the conference), there is no doubt we are headed in the right direction by many indicators: recruiting, student support, buzz, etc. After last year, who would have thought we would be talking about being on the bubble?

Would you rather be us or Memphis right now?
Memphis: Preseason top 25 Georgetown: Picked to finish 11 out of 12 in the BE
Memphis: One of the highest rated recruiting classes Georgetown: Not a single recruit in the top 100 and a walk-on
Memphis: A "respected" coach with a winning tradition Georgetown: A new coach from a small conference with a new complicated Offensive system
Memphis: Starting 5 -- Freshman PG, Senior SG, Junior SF, Sophomore PF, Senior PF Georgetown: Starting 5 -- Freshman PG, Junior SG, Junior SF, Freshman PF, Freshman C
Memphis: 4 Top 100 wins - @st. Marys(34), Marquette(80), DePaul(55), @louisville(19) Georgetown: 5 Top 100 wins - @davidson(76), @pitt(43), @nova(13), ND(65), WV(77)
Memphis: Finished 9th out of 14 in a down year for CUSA Georgetown: Finished 7th out of 12 in an up year for BE
Memphis: RPI 129, SOS 105, 16-14 (9-7) Georgetown: RPI 92, SOS 74, 16-11 (8-8)
Memphis: Big Media Story -- What a Disappointment! Georgetown: Big Media Story -- What a Turnaround!
Memphis: Next year will be in a severely weakened CUSA Georgetown: Next year will be in the best bball conference in the country
Personally, I like where we stand.
