6'5 SG out of Oak Hill. Anyone know anything about this kid? Supposedly we just offered him, according to a re-tweet by Jabril.

Saw him play with a tremendous Atlanta Celtics 16U AAU team last Summer. He, Jordan Price, Shaquille Goodwin, were just so talented and dominated. Think their closest game was a 15 pt win and it was against elite competition.
With 2 guys named Jordan--one was kind of heavier/chunky but was a lights out shooter. Other was a guy who played PG on their huge team--smallest guy who started was 6'5 Price. He was more athletic, assertive--but Adams was the shooter.
Again--it was confusing--and need to see a picture of the player because one was more of a PG/other was a 2G. One was more athletic/built better and other was chunky shooter.

pretty sure it's the lights out shooter.
reading some blurbs on him, said to have an 'old mans game', can really shoot and find ways to score. not the best athlete.

According to ESPN 6'5, 210 4 Stars, rating of 94 #56 of Top 60 EXCERPTS Strengths: Adams is a strong wing that has a knack for scoring. He attacks the rim on the break where he is strong enough to score through contact or draw the foul or hit the floater mostly going to his right with excellent body control....
Bottom Line: Adams is a shot maker. He has great confidence on the offensive end of the floor. He is a decent ball handler and good passer but must continue to add to his game to be a complete player.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/67412/jordan-adams

A similar description could have been used to decribe Freeman's game.

Seeing their team play--I'd prefer they go after Price then--because he was more like a Terrence Williams PG body wise and controlled the game.
Adams couldn't finish at rim--he stood outside and launched--but he's a helluva shooter.
Austin has been a nice offensive player--but I'd look elsewhere for a 2G then a Freeman carbon copy. Too awful on defense--and this kid was same.

Hopefully in a few years we'll have Moses, Tyler Adams, Nate, and Hopkins controlling the paint, and you can play a guy who's not so great defensively just because all he'll have to do is funnel people to the bigs.

Chep--get what you are saying and it would be hidden--but why go there if you have other options?

Oh, I don't necessarily mean we should go after this kid per se, I don't know anything about him. All I meant is that I think we can get away in the future with relying on a 1 ended player--if they're good enough offensively--because a bigger team could hide the defensive drop off. Obviously, we should go after guys who are adept on both ends, but I'm ok with a 1 way player if they're still a net positive.
More broadly, I'm pretty excited about our defense next year because I think we'll be bigger inside and with Hollis at the 3, a little more mobile with Henry at the 5, and with willing defenders in Vee and Markel. Jason, for all his inconsistent offensive play, has been a more disruptive player defensively down the stretch, and I think that will be magnified when he knows that we're long enough to take some risks on forcing turnovers. If we could insert a guy the year after who is a lights out offensive player but not a great defender (Whittington comes to mind...although he's long enough that presumably he'd still be a solid defender at the 3), it may be worth it with our teams in the next couple of years whereas it has bit us in the ass in the last couple.

Agree with your comment about Hollis at the 3 but iff you think HS is our starting 5 next year you didn't watch the Big East tournament. He should not be playing at all next yeat and while I had hopes for Vee it was clear at the Big East tournament and the few games preceding it that he is not ready for Big East play. Our hope next year is that somehow Nate and Moses can develop, that Adams and Trawrick get substantial play time and that we get either Porter and Whittington who can sub for Hollis at the 3.

Our hope next year is that somehow Nate and Moses can develop, that Adams and Trawrick get substantial play time and that we get either Porter and Whittington who can sub for Hollis at the 3. This is just rediculous. All of our players will improve, it happens every year. What matters is the individual improvement of the players. We all had high hopes for HS' improvement but it wasn't as effective as we had hoped. I'm sure another summer to improve his confidence would be highly beneficial. Vee was not ready to play because Coach did not play him all year. If you want the opportunity for your players to play well, they need the experience early in the season. I agree with you that I hope Adams is big enough to get instant PT but Moses has shown us that having the size is not enough to be starting. RE Moses- I hope he stays on campus all summer. I'm sure he will because going home to Africa would be a pretty big commitment. If he stays he will develop, he just needs to study a playbook There will be offseason improvement, I just hope that JTIII sits down all the players and tells them what weaknesses to focus on for the better of the team.

Every coaching staff - Hoyas included - has individual meetings with each player to discuss what they need to work on, suggest the drills they need to use, and focus on off-season improvement. It is then up to the players to follow through. Hope our guys are ready for that work. We will need significant improvement across the board for next year.
