o$u is in deep trouble. it was a quit or be fired thing right before the SI article comes out this week. brady hoke is going to pluck almost any player he wants out of ohio now. Unless, of course, those players want to go to a winning program... like who? the university of minnesota? this is the SI article. this is going to get much worse for o$u very soon. sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/magazine/05/30/jim.tressel/index.html

Cevat to the below. I kind of like Ohio State. They're not my favorite team, but I root for them when they play Michigan.
A few OSU fans responded to a Michigan fan posting the article on Facebook with "yeah, there's not really a smoking gun here".
I kind of have to disagree with that. The big things are that violations have been going on for years and didn't get caught by OSU's compliance people - or, if they were, they weren't punished. That, plus Preisdent Gordon Gee's comment that he hoped Tressel wouldn't fire him seem to indicate ...
Lack Of Institutional Control.
Ohio State waited months to fire Tressel, and only did so when the evidence was overwhelming. They were unable to discover violations in a period that lasted just under a decade. Their college president jokingly referred to the football coach's power. That SO sounds like the "lack of institutional control" that the NCAA loves to hammer so much.
The NCAA will never do it, but shutting down the Buckeyes for a year should be on the table. If not that, then allowing them only to play conference games next year (much as the NCAA did in the Baylor/Dave Bliss scandal) would cause immense pain.

Interesting factoid from Ivan Maisel's article on ESPN.com today: a coach hasn't left tOSU voluntarily in quite some time.
"Ohio State didn't fire Tressel, the first time the university didn't force out a coach in the past 60 years. John Cooper won 72 percent of his games at Ohio State and made the College Football Hall of Fame, but he got the door in 2000. He didn't beat Michigan enough. Earle Bruce won 75 percent of his games at Ohio State and made the College Football Hall of Fame. He was fired in 1987.
And Woody Hayes won 76 percent of his games, made the College Football Hall of Fame and remains a statewide icon more than two decades after his death. Hayes committed acts that would have been grounds for firing at many schools long before Ohio State fired him in 1978."

Gotta love Urban Meyer's "I'm not looking to coach any team this FALL". What's wrong with that statement? That's what I would expect him to say.

Wishing Terrelle Pryor the best. He was a very entertaining qb. I believe that there are some pro teams that he can play for.
Reported that The Ohio State is interested in Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops. Both are Ohio natives and very good coaches.
