I don't think there should be a hard and fast rule, especially with unbalanced schedules.
The committee has plenty of tools to assess the quality of a team above and beyond record.
They are a bubble team, and if they lose to Clemson again, I doubt they get in. If they win, they'll be in, the same as we'd have been if we had beaten Providence or St. John's.

MD has a very inconsistent record this year, but the committee probably says: If they can beat Duke twice they can win a game or two in the dance. Just my $.02 or the team that lost to both nc state and clemson twice could allow for a huge upset. Either way there would be a nice story and the committee is always a fan of nice stories

The Terps will have to win 2...
I don't see them being rewarded for beating a team that they're supposed to beat...a win over the Heels puts them in...

Alternatively if they'd beaten Clemson or NC State twice they'd be a much stronger candidate for a bid. The fact is, they did beat Duke twice. I certainly didn't imply that their resume would be stronger if they had lost twice to Duke and beaten Clemson twice instead. Give me a break. The point is that they have been extremely crappy in the conference this year but for those two games, and those two games alone shouldn't be enough to get them in. But it might, just the same, unless they manage to lose to Clemson yet again, in which event the Committee would be required to invoke the little-known "Any team that loses thrice to Clemson in the same season can't possibly play in our tournament" rule.

I was only implying that any bubble team's resume drastically changes when you take away their best two wins. Heck for weeks we were hanging our hats on out Pittsbugh and Villanova wins, without which we'd never be considered a bubble team.
Anyway, these conversations will be a lot easier when we see how teams finish the season and then whether they actually are selected. We can't fault the committee for picking teams they haven't picked yet. Sunday night, we can have an all out assault.
