I refuse to read this board in its entirety after the game. I don't know why everyone is making this so complicated. Over the course of the season (not based on potential, but this year) we have two players you would put in the top 20% of BE players. Everyone else is a role player--regardless of the fact that Julian is very good at that role and that JC had the potential (and production early on this year) to be in that group. Hollis and Nate may be next year...Markel in a couple of years, etc. etc. But this year, we have 2 stars and a bunch of role players. Right now, we're playing with one star and a bunch of role players. There's no difference between us and Providence's roster is that they've had the chance to practice all year to get the most out of that roster. We've had a week and a half.
Don't make this more complicated than it is. It's not that Chris is the MVP and we could replace Austin. We'd be in a crapload of trouble without Austin too. We have a lot of talent on the roster, but it's really young.

The problem is that Austin is a true 2guard. Meaning he looks for his shot 1st when he makes a move to the hoop. If you notice, Austin was wearing himself out fighting his way to the hoop. Because Austin doesnt do much kicking out and no one else can driving and kick to our shooters, our O was stagnet. Usually Chris is the one fighting his way to the hoop and either getting a layup or kicking out to a wing. It makes a big difference when you dont have your PG. I took a beating today on a pickup team simply because we had 4 players that needed a PG to set the table. If you had removed any one of the 4 and replace him with a drive and dish point and the team would have been hard to beat. Instead we were trapped and pressed to a 12-3 beat down..................Now none of us are big east players but neither was the team we played against................

wait a minute. many guys can step up for Austin, now? really? this is news to me. All-Big East this year, preseason player of the year. Vee, Clark, and Hollis can replace that? right. i've heard it all now. lol You don't get it do you. Chris is like the all-pro QB. And the backup QB can't even throw a pass or run which means the offense can't function. Austin is the all-pro RB. But we have backup RBs who are of average to above average ability (Hollis) who can fill in. It's a matter of depth and also the fact that the offense this year runs through Wright. That's why his injury is so devastating.

No, we must make this as complicated as possible and use these last 2 games as a referendum on JT3's inability to coach at a "big east" level, recruit "big east" players, prepare the team for the amazement of the BE, adjust in-game on the fly like even mediocre coaches can do and we should definitely take this as the ultimate opportunity to label III as an insufferable "system" coach. Also, these 3 games just prove we have a roster full of 1 star cast-offs that a division 2 team would not give a scholarship to and that our entire "system" will lead to the collapse of Hoyas basketball and relegate us to playing in McDonough against has-beens like the Violets of NYU. If you do not see that, you are just not a "real" Georgetown basketball fan. Remember it means nothing that the Hoyas were 10-5 when CW got hurt. Remember also that the 8-game winning streak in the mighty and merciless BE prior to Austin spraining his ankle meant nothing because we must somehow find 12 different ways to discredit this as a worthless accomplishment or just ignore it all together, C'mon it just does not fit into our anti-III agenda! Also, despite starting 1-4 in the BE and still finishing above the much more "BE-worthy" Nova and UConn in the standings, the Hoyas are still the most underachieving and worst team in any of the BCS conferences led by a coach who should be back at Princeton coaching the "ivies". chep, I'm with you, I have actually stopped reading the board after losses, it is the same 5 posters talking to themselves.

Let's just say the negativos spend a lot of time signing in and out of Hoyatalk.

That's why his injury is so devastating. its a poor analogy, because: Chris isn't an all-pro QB. Austin has been all-pro for us, his last 2 years. Chris has been inconsistent his whole entire career WITH options like Austin and Monroe. he isn't even a true PG, that is part of the reason for his inconsistency. he has been a square peg in a round hole. the problem isn't Chris's greatness, its that there is no other option. that doesn't make Chris great, or all-pro. Its makes us extremely thin at his position. thats the difference. Heck, Austin is Chris's actual backup, which shows you Austin's versatility. IF the scenario was reversed, our team would really be horrible right now. We saw it last year without Austin. I know what you are trying to say, but don't confuse our current dysfunction to Chris' greatness when his career has been marked with inconsistency..
