With Chris gone we need to go with Vaughn-Lubbick, Thompson, Freeman and Clark. Jason will be the key in running the offense and we will need quality minutes and a deadly shooting touch from Vee and Markel. We have enough talent to recover and the starting team will be totally playing in position. Before D-Day Eisenhower lost 5000 men in a training exercise but still won the war. We can still win the Big East and maybe with a purely balanced team, that is playing to redeem itself from the disaster tonight, the whole enchilada.

Yeah this lineup is probably what will happen though i also wouldnt be surprised if Markel started and Thompson continued to play his backup role.

In that lineup--Freeman is playing the PG spot because Clark has some of the shakiest handles I've seen for someone who is 6'2.
Do you throw Starks into the fire ASAP and see how he responds?

Clarks' not a PG.
I think Markel is too erratic and can't finish drives or shoot this year. Vee's not a point guard but between Vee, Freeman and Clark I think they can get it up court plus Vee can make 3s and floaters.
That's really are only shot till Chris gets back (if he gets back in time).

I would throw starks in the fire since JC is not a PG, III has to start trusting starks in case CW is out for the season
starks can have a minimum of 4 quality starts to prep him for next year
1 starks 2 AF 3 JC
HT to be the first player off the bench to play 3 or 4 (when lubick needs a break)
Vee to back up both guard spots
no benny please! please! please!

There's always the Benne-Factor. Lets start him at point. 6-7 point guard. could be Magic! Playing Starks major minutes means you are playing for next year IMO. I think Vee gives us the best shot for this year because he can hit the 3 and has a good drive (with his floater). Plus it spreads the floor. I don't see Starks shot or finishing ability getting more consistent this year. He's going to need the summer.

PG - Freeman SG - Clark SF - Thompson PF - Lubick C - Vaughn
Vee comes off the bench first, then Sims, then Starks

STarks should definitely start at the point and try to play as best to Chris as possible. That way everyone else is still in their same exact roles, and can keep Thompson coming in first off the bench. I'd expect to finally see more of Vee sharing ballhandling with Freeman to give Clark or STarks some rest. Don't really want to see Jason being a primary ballhandler at least not this year. He's much better getting open and taking uncontested shots or in his short dribble drive game. Stark's ability to step up for the rest of the season now becomes huge...Ive definitely seen him hit a few daggars this season but we're really going to need solid all around play from him -- combined with some great performances for the rest of the team in order to prevent a total let down on the order of the last 2-3 seasons. Definltely going to miss CW on the floor .

i honestly think freeman should be the one bringing the ball up. he's our most experienced player and he's easily the player i trust most with the ball. this offense doesn't need a true point, so have austin run the team and keep everyone else in their usual role. start vee or hollis and keep bringing starks off the bench.

No way Markel should start. This season is not over and I am not willing to concede it as a fan. Hollis is our best option in this scenario. However, you must acknowledge that this means there will be one ballhandler on the court if Hollis starts, Austin. JC has the worst handle for a starting guard in the big east.
SO I would not be upset if Vee starts. But with Markel, you are almost playing offense with 4 people. He just isnt ready yet. I think he has gotten a great sampling though and will work hard to cure his deficiencies for next year.
I would not be at all surprised to see JB start though. There is obviously a bromance between him and coach and he can do no wrong, so why not try him out at the pg?
I know its hard to predict what the landscape will be next year in the Big East and college basketball generally, but that glimpse I got last night scared the hell out of me. Things could get ugly around here...And that preview was with Austin and Julian on the floor!

Fortunately, Cuse is not a pressing team, and we'll then have a week to figure something out vs. Cincy. The bigger problem will be in finding a totally different way to figure out the 2-3 zone, since Chris was our zone-breaker up in the Dome.

We've been pressed by the vast majority of teams this year (even just as a token press to take time off the shot clock before we get into our offense), so we should be expecting to see it anyways.
THB, you've hit the key point. I'd like to see us flash Austin into the middle because I trust his decision making more than any of our other remaining guards. Put Vee on the perimeter because he can knock down the shot.

Trust the coach, trust the staff. Contrary to what the trolls think, they've earned it.
Saturday is a pretty quick turnaround, so I don't know what to expect for that, but they'll have this team ready for the rematch and the BET.
Everyone will have to step up no matter who is starting, which is somewhat unimportant, IMO.

That is right Bronxie said it.
Being a Gtown fan is all about pain. Bronxie was at the Knick game last night feeling good checking on the score of our game. Got the news that Chris was hurt ruined my night. Pain is our mantra.
Winning another game this year might be out of the question.

I admit that Clark does not have the best handle, but he is very good and a real threat to take that second pass and make a run at the hoop or kick it out. He is fast, can take it into the lane when it's open and has a decent midrange game. So Freeman brings it up, but Clark is the guy doing it with him looking for opportunities to make an aggressive play. If opponents press, which they certainly will do, I of course envision more turnovers than with Wright out there, but I see Clark making some nice scoring plays against the press also with defenders trying to race to keep up with him leading to fouls, layups or open looks for other guys. Pair them up with Hollis and Lubick and you have four guys that can run, which isn't too bad. On the defensive end, hope for the best, but as last night shows we need to score to have any chance of winning.

You know what, f you, bronxie. Of course you start posting more immediately after this. Is this really how you get your jollies, by hopping on the doom train immediately after every loss? You're a sad, sad man.
