Hmmm... Craig Smith and Jared Dudley on the First Team, Sean Williams on the Rookie Team... Yep, nefarious petty Big East BenedictArnold College dirty tricks going on again. Seriously, all 3 of those guys deserve the accolades, and congrats to Brandon and Jeff - here's to one or both on the first team NEXT year!

Actually, the fact that Smith and Dudley were not unanimous first-teamers is a little surprising. Green and Gay were the only unanimous All-Rookie teamers, clearly comes down to those two for ROY. It is notable that Green was only frosh (not even Gay) who made Hon. Mention All-Conference. I wonder if Roy got any All-Rookie team votes- he had more big games than Williams I think, but is clearly not as exciting a prospect. Big East.org also lists the Honorable Mention All-Big East: www.bigeast.org/sports/mbball/release.asp?RELEASE_ID=109

Why is Brandon Bowman the only player other than rookie team member Ollie Bailey not to have his name linked to a page with more details about him? huh?
HUH??
This is not surprising and it's extremely petty on the part of ESPN.com.

Anybody think it would be funny if Calhoun won COY? After all, he's got a trophy already!

Anybody think it would be funny if Calhoun won COY? After all, he's got a trophy already! I think the top 2 will be Calhoun and Wright, with Skinner and JT3 as the best of the rest.

In terms of improvement over the course of the season, you have to be impressed with Calhoun. The performances he has coaxed out of Williams, Villanueva, and Gay with his gentle prodding make them one of the top 3 teams I have seen in the past 3 weeks, and even more dangerous if Anderson gets healthy.
That said, Skinner deserves COY when measured against preseason expectations. JTIII was in the running and might have taken a few spite votes away until the last 3 weeks, but Skinner has got to win that award.
POY is much less clear cut for me- Warrick appears to be the favorite as the only unanimous first-teamer, with Smith and Dudley probably taking away from each other's votes too much. Gomes may be as good a candidate as any.
That First team is clearly deserving (except for GMac, but I suppose you needed a guard), but it is noteworthy that there are probably 5 guys in the conference who would be drafted before any of them with the possible exception of Warrick, and 3 of those guys play for UConn.

Good to see Chevy Troutman finally made all BE as a 7th year senior...
But, in all seriousness, the teams were very well selected. Can't say I wouldn't have liked to see Jeff get more votes for all-conference, which I think he deserved, but I have no problem with any of the selections, sans JR Gmac on the first team... would have liked to have seen Allen Ray on that team ahead of him.
As for POY, I'm sorry, but after that performance on Saturday, no matter how bad his team was this year, I can't see how Ryan Gomes should NOT win it. I personally believe he is the best player in the league. That being said, I think it comes down to a duel between Warrick and Gomes, with the BC votes being split by Dudley and Smith, and eventually POY honors going to Warrick.
COY - you have to give props to Calhoun, who really has made his team one of the best in the country in the last month, and you would think the favorite to win the BET and also go the farthest in the NCAA's from the BE. Still think JT3 did a better overall job with less talent and depth though...

As for COY, I fail to see how it could not be Skinner.
Yes, Calhoun did a good job. But should developing a sure fire lottery pick into playing that way (Villanueva, Gay) be put on par with getting folks with no expectations to play that way (Williams, Dudley).
Certainly not. If Skinner doesn't win it, the award is a joke.

I personally don't understand why the first team has six members. Second and third teams have five, and there's a note that the rookie team has an extra due to a voting tie. Big East has done this before, and I think it's dumb. Unless they're using the Seton Hall standard of six men on the floor.

I agree with Jersey - I'd definitely take Krauser over ratboy. He's still living off of that blistering shooting performance in his freshman year in the tourney.
Was hoping Jeff would sneak onto the 3rd team, but understand why he didn't.

Skinner has a great shot at national coach of the year. He can't possibly lose conference coach of the year.
Add me to the list of people who would take Krauser over Macnamara, but other than that, no quibbles with the team. I think Warrick gets POY, because I just can't see it going to a player whose team was well below .500 in conference.
And while we are handing out plaudits, I would like to award one to Pitt for manning up big time last week with convincing road wins over BC and ND. That's impressive.

there is no way that scrub mcnamara deserves 1st team. his numbers are down from last year, except assists. he shoots under 40% from the field and 3, and he chokes in every big game they play. boeheim must have lobbied for his little ass kisser to be on the 1st team. krauser, williams, or allen ray deserved it more than ratboy. god i hate him.
