Perhaps Tranghese wanted to be place the trophy in a special spot that will be fully protected from the sun's when he awards it to BC.
Looks like a pre-emptive strike aimed at controlling officiating bias in the tournament and to try to motivate poor unwanted BC. The funny thing is that I don't think they will know what a hosing is until they get down to Tobacco Road and start talking funny.
My gut tells me that the winner of the 4-5 game is losing to UConn in the finals and that BC is a little nervous about having to beat Providence or West Virginia (and more Providence) three times in the same season.

I think BC is cranking up its level of whining in order to fit in better with the rest of the ACC.
Tranghese and the rest of the Big East gives perfectly reasonable explanations for why BC didn't get its trophy yesterday - they don't have award ceremonies on a visiting team's floor, and Tranghese was at Storrs to honor the 700th victories of the two coaches involved in that game.
Come to think of it, the only think petty about this whole affair is BC's whining that it's not getting enough attention. It's not like they're not getting the award, or won't get it in an appropriate circumstance (BC will get its award at the Big East banquet this week). So they're really complaining that they didn't get to fondle their trophy in front of the fans at the RAC.
Yeah, I feel your pain.

BC's radio voice, Ted Sarandis, has been waging a year long whining campaign about the 'fact' that BC is on TV less than any other BE school (guess he didn't see the Hoyas TV 'schedule' this year) and basically saying it was a sinister BE plot to keep America's team in the closet.
Laughable.

Maybe having a football team that didn't blunder its way into a four-way tie for the league championship by sucking at the Carrier Dome in their season finale would have helped solidify BC as a nationally recognized power.

Teddy, you don't want to suffer through another BC choker of a post season, do you? I need you positive and upbeat for discussion of all things Red Sox at all hours of the night. We certainly don't need you whining and moaning about BC basketball not getting enough attention. I mean, you should get the point that no one cares, when other talking heads on WEEI make fun of you for your allegiances to BC basketball.
And just a note, if no one is calling into Ted nation about BC, it's not a media conspiracy, it's just that no one in Boston gives a flying crap about BC...never has...never will. We would rather talk about a rain delayed split squad matchup between the Sox and the Twins. Once and for all, boston only cares about:
1) Red Sox of the present 2) Red Sox of the future 3) Red Sox of the past 4) Pats of the present 5) Red Sox 6) Red Sox 7) Red Sox 8) Pats of the future 9) Red Sox 10) Celtics -- now that Toine is back
BC isn't on the list and never will be...especially now that they don't play UConn or Providence...I'm sorry, but Boston is perhaps the one place in the world where no one gives a crap about UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forrest and the rest of the ACC. They don't watch college basketball. Hell, they don't watch college football or any college sport for that matter.
You want to know what's on in the Red Sox offseason on the major sports network up here, NESN? They replay Red Sox games. That's right, most of the time they replay playoff games, but sometimes you get a midsummer sleeper that's only notable because Tek just missed hitting for the cycle or Ortiz and Manny hit back to backers twice in the same game. My point, BC basketball can't even beat out old Red Sox games on TV up here...and that's during their most successful season ever. What does that say for local support?
My point is, stop whining Tednation, no one gives a crap about BC.

Come to think of it, the only think petty about this whole affair is BC's whining that it's not getting enough attention. How do you think they got invited to the ACC in the first place? They were never really wanted (at least not as much as Syracuse), we all know that. Whine, whine, whine. But hey, it worked for them before. Why not now? You know, I never NEVER root for Maryland or Duke, but I don't think anyone will have a hard time guessing the couple of games next season for which I'll be a die-hard Terps and Blue Devils fan.

GPHoya was right about BC latching on to this straw man as inspiration. All of the local sports reports in Boston tonight, as part of features on Dudley and Smith being selected to the First Team, noted the 'trophy snub' as part of a "year-long series of cold shoulders and officials' calls against the Eagles". Dudley mentioned bad calls against the team that have been going on all year in his interview on one station. Please. Somebody get me some tissues.

Back before BC lost to Syracuse in football, Sarandis was convinced that the Big East would attempt legal action to allow the league to choose its own BCS represenative, as the league wouldn't want BC to steal its money and run.
