There's a thread for each of the most valuable players but not enough credit going to Coach.
Loved the scouting report on Rick Jackson, drawing the charges as he goes with his right shoulder.
Loved the rotation of players getting to the middle of that zone, especially working in Chris Wright to that spot.
Except for one stretch, where Coach put Sims in for JV when Jackson got his 4th foul I thought the substitutions were great.
Great gameplan, great strategy.

This is a game where JT3 could catch a lot of heat for the subs in the first 8 minutes or so of the game. As the game went on, he settled nicely - figured out how to use Hollis and Markel effectively to force our style on the game and Lubick/Sims well enough to tread water.
This is a win that JT3 will savor, and he should. He knows the history.
On Edit: Another big point is on what Lubick was able to dictate early on the Jackson charge stuff. Jackson stays in the lane for 35 seconds and pushes off defenders who are fronting him. He lowers the shoulder. No doubt we flopped, but it was no more egregious than other flops. Maybe he should become better at basketball instead. Here's his postgame comment:
Did you feel like they were going to try and take a charge on you? Was that your strategy? “Yeah, but I didn’t think the refs would go along with that strategy. It hasn’t really worked all year. In a rivalry like this, Georgetown and Syracuse, you don’t think that it will work. You would think the refs would let you play. They blew the whistle a lot. What can you do? There’s nothing you can do.”

Saw a short clip of JT3's postgame on SNY. He was flat-out emotional about this win. If anyone ever doubts JT3 bleeds Hoya blue and gray; Watch that post-game.
There is no one I would rather have molding the Hoyas each season than JT3. Tonight was a perfect gameplan. The way he used CW, the way he scouted Jackson, his substitution pattern and the continued effort/plan on defense. Terrific.

At one point down the stretch he had Nate playing center and Hollis at the 4 with Julian on the bench with 4 fouls. Nate did well and when Julian came back in he made great passes to Hollis and Jason. Great management. You could tell he was cool and calm down the stretch. Huge win for Coach to break the drought in the Dome. Great to see him deny JB #850 on his home court. Nothing like a Coach Thompson to ruin a good celebration up in Syracuse.

Coach is doing a fantastic job learning how to gameplan, how to make in-game adjustments, etc. Lots of great seasons ahead - and this one could go a long, long way.

I have to admit I thought he had lost it when he went super small by putting Nate at center, but he knew better than I and it worked out. He could not hold his smile back after the game. This one meant a lot to him. Well deserved win.

Meh, I don't think they're flops any more than Markel's or Chris's were on Joseph. I mean, the key there is getting in front of the guy and establishing position. If you anticipate where the play is going, get to that spot, establish position, and all the defender does is bowl you over, it's not a "flop" per se. This isn't a sliding under a driving player or camping out underneath the basket kind of play. It's knowing who you are guarding and beating the man to that position.
Maybe for an encore in DC, we can just pull the table out from under him when he starts that move and get some travels.

I don't know what you are all talking about. Clearly the Princeton offense isn't working, the team is soft, and the man needs to fired.
Also, I'm a monkey's uncle.

Loved seeing Chris at the FT line area--he tore up the zone and loved that as game got into late moments--Hoyas attacked and were aggressive to hoop instead of going against set zone--they ran/leaked out and how he managed the bench late with Vaughn in foul trouble and going "small" with Nate as the lone big--was a nice move--also Henry gave some positive minutes in his last moments on court in a game he struggled or seemed a second behind the action. Keep going to him/let him find a way to contribute.
Insertion of Starks was great but moving Freeman to baseline and then Clark to backdoors late was brilliant adjustment.
Still have to admit I was surprised he didn't press Cuse at all-they are limited in backcourt and especially when they played both bigs--Jackson/Keita. Hope he thinks about this in DC to exploit them some more.

Hope he thinks about this in DC to exploit them some more. I think he wanted the game played at the tempo it was last night - which exploited Syracuse's inability to excel in the halfcourt and inability to win without turning the game into a helter-skelter up and down game. While the press might have turned them over a couple times it had a better chance of giving Syracuse an advantage in the end if they were able to get several quick buckets in a row.
