I think this close call against the Friars will help focus the team.

When was the last time we beat Syracuse at the Dome? Actually when was the last time we didn't get blown out at Syracuse and forced to attempt some miraculous comeback at the end? I'd settle for keeping it close the way games up there have gone. Somehow this team set this game up so we aren't desperate for a win, and thanks to Uconn and hopefully USF Syracuse isn't desperate for one either. So hopefully it will be a good game and we can keep up the defensive intensity we showed the last couple of weeks and actually play well against their zone offense the first time we see it in the season. Also don't fall in love with the 3 too quickly as that can come back to bite you.

As always, we need to move the ball, make crisp passes and take good shots. Get the ball to the foul line, then turn and make them commit; you can them take the quick jumper (Jason and Hollis), dish to the short baseline, or kick out for the 3. But if you don't move the ball, the zone will double you and swallow you up. And on D, foul Jackson every chance you get! Use 10 from JB and Moses if you have to!

My initial 3 keys in descending order of importance:
1) Team Defense - have to keep Cuse's guards in front of us, defend the 3 point line, and somehow contain Jackson and Joseph on the inside. We had mades such great strides on defense over the past month, Providence excepted. I hope we can continue the good defense on Wednesday.
2) Team Rebounding - Cuse is big, beefy, and an aggressive rebounding team - we need to play a big lineup and really focus on boxing out and grabbing (not just tipping) boards. Julian, Nate, Henry, Hollis, and the guards all need to focus on rebounding as a team big time.
3) Henry Sims - it is easy to say that Freeman/Wright/Clark are the keys to the offense, and we obviously need them to play well. But a potential surprise key to this game is Henry Sims. He will really shine or potentially cost us the game. He is the one post player who has shown the ability to catch the ball at the foul line, turn, read the defense, make a pass, or even occasionally hit a jumper. These attributes are critical when trying to exploit the 2-3 defense.

I think Jason and Hollis also have the length to turn and hit that 15-footer over the zone.

Nate could be a key here...get him the ball in the middle and let him make decisions....

I would love to see us use the pass down low to the endline to stretch the zone and open up some seams. We rarely ever do that for reasons that are beyond my understanding. Should be easier to do this year than last as they don't have nearly the length they did.

due to Fab Melo being an utter failure thus far, They've used a lot of Joseph and now CJ Fair at the 4 spot so Hollis won't really be undersized or in a mismatch defensively if he has to play minutes there.
