Don't you know how strapped for resources Georgetown is? We can't compete with a powerhouse like Kennesaw State University! Its actually worse than that. This isn't Kennesaw State's football stadium. It isn't even their soccer stadium. It's only their women's soccer stadium. "The stadium, which also brings professional sports to Kennesaw State in the form of the Atlanta Beat of Women’s Professional Soccer, who will play their home games in KSU Soccer Stadium[.]" Heck, that's our solution. Partner with DC United and get them to play their home games at the MSF. That should solve our money woes.

Didn't the Washington Bayhawks (Pro Lacrosse) play in MSF for a little...obviously the pro lacrosse funding isn't quite there, but I would hope we would have been charging them

This appears to be one of the designs submitted, but not adopted. Note the lower tier of the basketball practice facility and the appearance of a track stadium where Yates is--neither are likely to be in the final plan. And given that longime university architect Alan Brangman was hired away for a new job in December, it's likely no plans are at this stage right now. www.udel.edu/udaily/2011/dec/construction-leadership-team-121710.html

That's too bad because the stadium in that rendering is gorgeous. That site does mention that the project had stalled twice, are you sure DFW that is not something we are moving forward with? If already approved, would it matter if we were still replacing the university architect? If anyone would know, surely you would.

Does anyone have any idea what the school paid Seating Solutions for the 2,500 seats + 3 Temp Press Boxes that currently make up the Gtown FB field?
DFW, I'm expecting that if anyone knows it would be you???

A little late to the conversation, but to the question above: I don't know, would guess low six-figures because it's DC. Meanwhile, for those of you who remembered the story a few years ago of Allen (TX) H.S. and its multi-million dollar new stadium, it's about to open: www.anygivensaturday.com/showthread.php?112119-Texas-HS-Stadium

Great post on the third rail on the stadium DFW. In typical Georgetown fashion I can't find any photos of the new North Kehoe facility. No mention of the renovation on the facilities page at gu hoyas.com which is as sad as it was predictable. Does anyone know where you can see the new seating? Is it something better than just aluminum bleachers old kehoe style?

To the excellent stadium piece on The Third Rail blog I would add that not only do we need more capacity and better quality seating (and centered on the 50 preferably) before we welcome Harvard in 2014....we need REAL bathrooms. Are we still using portajohns? That is beyond embarassing.

I can't believe it's the money -- GU's not rich, but it isn't broke. Are there even any new plans? It's embarrasing to play top colleges at the MSF, though I should add that given it's location, surrounded now by numerous buidlings, it actually looks pretty good, considering what it is, from Leavey, the new science building, etc. If we could even just put up permanent bleachers with seatbacks on both sides it would be a huge improvement. I enjoy going to the games because GU now offers fairly good football at a cheap price with nice views of the field. It sure would be nice to capitalize on that.

The reason some of us have switched focus from permanent stadium to improved and larger bleachers is basically because it seems that the University has just flat out dropped the stadium plan altogether and is now concerned with the IAC. So basically we've been beaten into asking for nicer bleachers by the silence and inertia of the university. Quite frustrating given that just about every other IAA, d2 even d3 college in the country- most of whom believe it or not are much poorer than we are- managed to do something that seems beyond the capabilities of GU.

I've attended around five homecomings as an alumni and I'm a bit embarrassed to say I've never seen a game or made it out of the parking lot. I think that's pretty typical among my friends. That said, we're starting to win, so I would guess that translates to more interest in actually watching the game.
