Already? Enjoy folks. Allow yourselves that. Happy times don't always linger. Talk Nova tomorrow.

Most likely a loss up in Philly, but have to win one of the next two - don't care which one.

JTIII's teams have historically been excellent against Nova. At Verizon, at MSG, and in Philly, we've had Jay Wright's number.
This is definitely a winnable game. We won't be favored, and no one will be shocked with a loss, but it is a real chance to get over .500 in conference and restate our case to be one of the top teams in the Big East.
We were excellent today on the glass against the Johnnies. We're going to need that sort of performance Saturday. When Nova only gets one look at the hoop, they're much less dangerous. Plus, I can't see them shooting 18% from three like they did in a loss against Providence tonight.

absolutely a winnable game. But VERY losable given it is at their place. Wish it was at MCI (sorry just can't get behind calling it verizon).
Question for the board - any updates on Julian? He played with a NOTICABLE limp this evening, even having to come out of the game for a short stretch after turning it.
I was very pleased with JT III's adjustments this game, with the exception of playing Julian so much. We very very very much need him down the stretch.

Ah, the annual Nova is so "scary" vibe we see on Hoya sites for some reason. Nova is a good team. They are also a team that Georgetown matches up with very well and under III have had great success against.
I could give a crap if Nova is "stinging" about their loss--this is a winnable game if Georgetown plays well--which they should and Nova isn't a great defensive team at all-they'll want to engage in the type of game Hoyas play their best at--up/down.
Just hope that team carries the intensity/urgency/effort from tonight over to the rest of season and wins will come--but even in defeat--it's more then satisfying seeing everything being put forth in terms of getting after it and attacking opponents weaknesses and using your strengths.

Was rooting for Nova tonight, as they will obviously be extra focused now on Saturday, however if the hated orange can lose 3 straight, there's no reason Nova can't lose 2 straight...all comes down to how they shoot it. sound familiar?
I'm taking an 8:40 train down from Metropark in Jersey, fully equipped with Irish Coffees, homemade screwdrivers, etc. Plan is to blackout before the tip...College!!! Jesus, 10 year reuinion in June...5 month old son...I need this.

Jesus, 10 year reuinion in June...5 month old son...I need this. I hear ya, buddy. I'm not nearly there yet, but I feel you. While I didn't watch the game, Providence proved that 'Nova is vulnerable. Whether this is a one-game blip or a troubling sign for the Wildcats remains to be seen. We better bring it like we did vs. the Johnnies. Build on that win. Only steps forward, no steps backward. We can beat 'Nova.

JTIII's teams have historically been excellent against Nova. At Verizon, at MSG, and in Philly, we've had Jay Wright's number. That's because they had Scottie Reynolds for the last four years. I hope you're right, but this is a new era.

IMHO, this game will be decided on how well GU plays. Sure, Nova is a good team. But so are we.... when we decide to play like a good team. Last night, we did. I believe our guys have gone through their slump and are past it.
GO HOYAS!

The nervous view from the Main Line:
"The second half issue ... a horrid defensive effort. The Cats played a 1-2-2, 3/4 court pressure defense that Providence shredded consistently for easy baskets along the baseline and wide open looks from three. When the Cats did recover and find the shooters, Providence immediately attacked off the dribble and found cutters for shots around the basket. "
. . .
"After laying this egg, ..... Should the Cats attempt the same defensive scheme, expect to see Austin Freeman and Jason Clark dropping three-balls to the tune of 20+ points each ... and Villanova wondering how to get out of a 3 losses in 4 games funk."
THIS SHOULD BE FUN

We've lost two games in conference that we definitely should have won (WVU, @sju). I'm not saying they are bad losses or that we couldn't have beaten @nd or Pitt. Just saying if you're drawing up somewhat what I expected for this, the early January struggles set us back a couple of games.
Right now, we're looking at something between 8-10 and 10-8 unless we can pick up a win or two that we shouldn't necessarily win.
Villanova is the first shot at that.

I think us hanging 100 on them last year was motivation enough for Nova, but I think we'll be ready to play. Whether we win is an entirely different question

For some reason the past few years games against Nova have like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. Jay seems to employ a foul-fest strategy against the Hoyas. Even with his four guard set they look to bully the Hoyas as a method of disrupting the offense. For some reason I like our chances this Saturday against the Reynolds-less wrapped Wildcats. The #8 vs. the #9 RPI teams in the country. The key wil be to keep our turnovers low against their experienced guards who all seemed to be named Corey. Pena and Yarou have been rebounding machines ranked 6th and 8th in the Big East respectively in rebounds per game. JV is #15 by comparison. Let's hope Nate can put a body on them and limit the second chance points. Hold them to around 60 and we should win.

Wait, Shane Clark is no longer on that team right? I swear he played for 7 years.

Pena backed up Dwayne McClain when he got there.
