Anyone else see this? Its specifically about the Nova upset, but the same people that did the suberb "Do You Believe in Miracles" doc are doing this. I was just watching HBO in between Deadwoods, and they start talking about the "most feared team in America" and for the first minute or so it was just about how dominant we were. I was quite taken aback. I believe it premieres March 28 I believe. They even had JT in on it.

Its called "Perfect Upset." And yes, the Hoyas will be playing the part of the CCCP in this one.

Sorry to say it, David, but I can. I'll watch, but this promises to be an hour long exercise in masochism for me. I'm sure I'll enjoy the look back at what was a great Hoya team, but the end result will still be too painful.
I was at the two regular season 'Nova contests. They were both struggles. I hoped for better, but that championship game was ridiculous. The '82 debacle with North Carolina was bad enough.... Our NCAA finals karma has been absurd. Patrick deserved better.

Just watch the first half then, which I am sure will be all about the Hoyas rise to greatness, for a good 30 minutes I bet, including the national title do doubt. Productions values on these things HBO does are outstanding.

I didn't give a lick about college hoops in 1985 but that still is the second most excruciating defeat of my lifetime. Second only to the Yankee meltdown of last fall. I really need some good sports news beginning tonight.

If this HBO special is going to be credible at all it has to mention the fact that if a 45 second shot clock and three point line were in effect the Hoyas would have won the game. This documentary better also point out that despite the "perfect game" we were winning and if Broadnax and Martin didn't botch a fairy easy pass the outcome may have been back to back Hoya titles. If Jake Niven gets mentioned more than Gary Mclain's coke habit I'm also going to be ill.

Gary McLain and Harold Jensen hit some serious bombs in that game that would have been 3's for them....

I'm sorry, I cannot understand why any Hoya would want to subject him/herself to this. I can't imagine anything I would rather less watch. There was a short thread on this documentary earlier, where I pointed out that I would as likely watch this as a documentary on the 1968 Laker-Celtic series or the Foolish Pleasure - Ruffian match race. I don't care how much of the special is devoted to building up how good we were. The bottom line is this game, against a team that played so far over its head that it couldn't duplicate that performance again in a million years (and yes, I know they had played us tough twice before, but they hadn't shot 1000000000% in those games), cost us our place in the college basketball pantheon. I'll pass.
