has some free time to praise the Eagles for hiring the Dog-Killer.
It is important that he focus on some big-ticket items like the rehabilitation of this scumbag.
Of course, in classic cowardly Barry O fashion, he does not get out front on the issue but waits until the furor has died down and Dog-Killer is an MVP (most vile predator?) candidate.
Once again, Barry O leads the way on the right side of an issue.

Oh, please.
There are lots of things to get mad at Obama about. This doesn't rank in the top 50.

I give credit to Obama for making the call. You can be assured that no other politician would because of PETA-types like Elvado (and the Blame America types on the right). Vick did his time and deserves ridicule for the crime but also the opportunity to do some good.

If Obama had any sack, he would have made the call last year after Vick stayed out of trouble but wasn't a star. Vick will get his from a higher authority than I. However, Obama should have been out front or kept his yap shut on this one. Typical cowardly politician who gloms on where there is "good" news.

If anything, he has the most sack of anyone in Washington. He had the temerity to clean someone else's mess up and saw the end of the Bush recession (notwithstanding the last 2 years of cheerleading for a bad economy on the right). In the process, he took on the fourth rail in American politics (HCR), DADT, etc. He bit the bullet, and the GOP bit their nails. All while his opponents opposed debating every single major policy initiative, save the increase in spending designed to line their own pockets (the highest ticket item of the Obama Presidency).

Fourth rail? So would taking on the IOC and trying to bring the Olympics to Chicago be like the 87th rail?

I can't think of a more laughable mis-characterization of the facts. Nothing new for certain posters of course. Obama made a private phone call a week ago to the owner of the Eagles, who -- a week later -- decides to share the contents. THAT is your definition of "Glomming on"? Did Vick deserve the punishment he received? Absolutely. Does he deserve his second chance? Is he a worse person for mistreating dogs than Ben Rothlisberger is for mistreating women? Meanwhile, President Obama defied Orrin Hatch (remember him during the GU v Utah St. game proclaiming to us all that NOTHING would get done during the lame duck session?) and the rest of the "Just Say No" Republicans in town to achieve the following: - Extension of Tax cuts for two more years and a payroll tax holiday in an effort to further stimulate the economy - Extension of Unemployment Insurance for those devastated by the 2nd Depression to occur under Republican "leadership" - New Start Treaty approval -- strengthening America's National Security - Repeal of DADT - improving Civil Rights for ALL Americans - 9/11 Rescue workers Bill -- which the Republicans thought they had thoroughly defeated only a week earlier -- Thanks SO much for honoring America's heroes Republicans. - Food Safety Bill That's quite an impressive list of significant achievements. Most neutral observers would say that list is far more indicative of the leadership displayed by the President than a single, private phone call that eventually leaked to the press from the recipient.

Man, this is tempting. So many possibilities..
But, I'm in a good mood, enjoying extended homemade mom cooking while USAir jerks me over. Doesn't lend itself to snark. So, kumbayas and milkshakes to the president and the quarterback.

No. That would be boring! But thanx Ambassador, SirSaxa, and others for responding to this nonsense. I'm taking the Boz route and passing this time. BTW, thanx to you, too, Elvado. Your talent for igniting these thread wars approaches legendary. ;D

It's the "third rail", not the fourth rail. The third rail is the electrified one. The fourth rail is the one that was paid for with stimulus money and advertised with lots of signage and will run on fusion power and good thoughts but actually hasn't been started yet. 2. The true third rail is Social Security/Medicare reform, to which health care reform is zilch in comparison. Entitlements are eating up a larger and larger percentage of the federal budget. Fixing it requires taking on AARP, the best lobbying organization in Washington, and older people who almost always vote.

Your zealous defense of Barry O is laudable. To recap: He extended tax cuts he railed against for years to save what was left of his political hide; He got rolled by Russia on START; He helped repeal DADT, put in place by your previous idol Mr. Clinton; and let's not forget Sent his wife ahead early on yet another high-priced taxpayer funded vacation, this time to the tune of $65,000 so she could fly a day earlier.*** He is a true profile in courage, that one. ***all these great feats were accomplished while wearing his autographed "Ron Mexico" jersey.

Second depression? Really? Funny how getting his ass kicked seemed to motivate Obama these past few weeks.

Vick did his time and deserves ridicule for the crime but also the opportunity to do some good. This post is spot on, regarding both Vick and Obama (and I don't usually go around praising Michael Vick). I am pretty middle-of-the-road, and not a big fan of the prez, but these Elvado threads are just getting embarrassing and seem to me like Obama must be doing a lot right if this is the best material certain vocal right-wingers can come up with. Now, the esteemed Gov. Rendell's blasting of the NFL for postponing the Eagles-Vikes game on Sunday? That deserves to be lambasted. Rendell is a clown who just likes to hear himself talk. He needs to go away quietly.
