...the bandwagon fans have gone away.
Anyone want to talk about this weekend's game?

That's a plus? Georgetown football needs all the fans it can get.
How good is Fordham? Better than Sacred Heart, I assume? Any predictions, over/unders, spreads, etc.?

Any predictions, over/unders, spreads, etc.? well, let's look at this as contrarians....early in the season when every picked our opponent we won, then when "people" started picking us we lost, now....everyone is picking our opponent again so.............................

Hey, if too many people want to come to games, we might actually have to build seating for them. Better to keep the program as unpopular as possible.
I am sort of curious what happened between the fourth game and now. I haven't seen any in person, but it sounds like we're back to the same wildly ineffective offensive scheme of the last few years. What have people at the games observed in terms of causes for the mid-season shift from solid to pathetic?

Anyone want to talk about this weekend's game? haha, not sure I've ever heard of someone who would actually prefer to have their fan base remain as small as possible. I'm also still not sure what bandwagon fans you're referring to, but you probably mean anyone other than the 4-5 people who post regularly on this board.

I meant the people who came on after a quick 3 wins, had a lot to say about the intricacies of the team and the way it should play, said we should start scheduling major D-I schools, then jumped ship and went back to the the Hoya Hoops board as soon as the fun ended. That's pretty much the definition of a bandwagon fan, so far as I know. I hope they made a sizable donation to the program before their disappearance, but I would bet none of them did.

If I had to guess I would think we're closer to being the team that won three games than the team that last to Sacred Heart. I pick us this weekend. Also fair weather fans are still fans. Let's hope the team's play causes the sun to come out.

Here is my 2 Cents & a bunch of analogies: The board has been quite for two weeks now bc we have had the wind taken out of our sails, this baloon is quickly going flat and worst of all - kick a man while he is down!!!! We lose to a team that is (0-6) and gets made fun of for being a "Catholic Girls School"!!!!! What to say, I'm mad - I feel like something has been taken from me and I know what it is - HOPE & PRIDE!!! I walked around the first 4 weeks of this year with my chest out, we talked childlessly of a new tradition and people (me included) thought we might get a new stadium - based on winning merit!!! My wife asks how we did, I abrubtly say we lost - she syas to who - I walk out of the room and she knows not to pursue! This is my new reality!!!! Man what happend to the new OC and the single QB system, what happened to the OL that pushed around Laffeyette? Wagner and SHC??? I'm mad - I had possibly false expecatations - but for years I had none and like the saying goes, "Its far better to be poor for life than ever know rich and become poor!" For 4 weeks in the past 10 years I was rich and it was ripped from my by WAGNER / SHC!!!!!!!!!!!

From just my causal observations, I think there has been a bit of a carousal at some positions up on the Oline due to some nagging injuries. Our protections have suffered from this, oh and our basic lack of a consistent running game doesn't help open up the field much for our passing game, which has been our only option of late.
the more the L's stack up, the more I think I jinxed the team with my grandiose prediction revisions a few weeks back. We should still be proud of the team and its early success but we gotta stop the bleeding. Fordham is our brother from another mother - we should hang with and beat these guys.

At the beginning of the year I was so excited about the season. My buddies and I were sending around texts, bumping into one another in NYC and actually talking about the Hoyas. I even had a nice little group planning to hit the Fordham game. Now, everybody cancelled and I know it's because of the losing streak. Also, something I know can't be changed but is the consensus from all of the guys from the 90's that I know is the same exact quote "Yeah, since Benson left, I stopped going to things" I actually bumped into 3 different guys y'day that were all older than me and they all said the same thing. I know we can't bring him back, but something has to be drawing the alums back to start donating again. It's isn't Benson, so it has to be wins.

Without getting into trouble, let me agree with you and say this: constituent relations should be a priority within Hoyas Unlimited. The Friday night before the Fordham game would be well suited for an event in New York, yet I'm aware of nothing that was planned. It comes down to building a broad base of support, win or lose, something football has not taken advantage of in general and the coaches have largely left for the staff to do. Former Advancement VP Jim Langley, though not speaking directly about football, was quoted recently about the subject of giving, and it ties in with what affects the program in 2010. An excerpt: "The long-term challenge that worries me most is our eroding base of support. Alumni participation has been declining for 15 straight years, at about a percentage point each year. For years the trend was masked by overall increases in private giving. We were raising more and more but from fewer and fewer donors. Had we been able to preserve or even widen our base in the good years, we might have better weathered the bad years by offsetting the decline in the average gift with a larger number of more modest gifts. But more importantly, the decline in the base also suggests a growing emotional disconnection with higher education." universityadvancement.net/index.php/2010/10/five-questions-with-jim-langley/

I really don't ask a lot of Georgetown football, but my two siblings go to Fordham and they are just going to this football game to see Georgetown lose so it would be great if we could beat them.
And maybe I missed this, but my sister said that Fordham is joining the A-10 in football next year so this is the last year we will probably play them for awhile.

GU intercepts, then quickly fumbles on the pick and Fordham gained 40 yards on the play at GU 12.

Snapshot of October:
Fordham throws an INT deep in GU territory, but the Hoyas fumble the reception and give it back at the GU 13.
End of 1, 14-0.
