Bad for the Hoyas. Makes it harder to see players -- and more expensive. The rich get richer in the scenario as those schools with private jets for recruiting will still see the players.
Those which have to watch their budget will have less contact.

the good side of it would be those with solid local talent bases (certainly have that in the DMV) may have an advantage, only being able to see kids during the academic year.
but overall, probably not a good thing with the $.

Im not so sure its a bad thing or if its anymore expensive. You are already spending most of your recruiting budget with 3 guys on the road for all of july which is primarily an evaluation period. Now you will be putting most of your time into the 10 weekend that are currently open for evaluation between april to june.

All the kids in July are often times in only a handful of locations per week. You won't get to see nearly as many kids during the school year.

Yes i agree thats how it used to be 20 years ago or more everyone will be impacted the same. I dont see any disadvatage for Georgetown if anything there will be more misses by not having the time to evaluate what kids belong at what level and fit to a program. It will ultimately bring back a little more control to the HS school coach vs AAU. I wholly agree with your first point on the DMV and other major metro areas. keys to recruiting will be having good eyes and ears out throughout the rest of the country who you can trust to evaluate the younger kids so you can get on them early.

As I understand it (without reading the article), the purpose of the change is to cut down on violations, but as I see it, with the more rules that are in place, the only ones who are to be affected by those rules are the ones for whom compliance is important.
The clean programs will have their exposure cut considerably and the shadier programs will have their exposure cut less so.

It's a stupid idea by the commissioners. I doubt it goes through. All the recruiting people seem to be against it.
It hurts the kids and it hurts programs. It won't accomplish what they want which is to avoid slimy hanger ons and AAU coaches, but 1) you're not fully cutting them off, and there are plenty of high school coaches with their hands out too. If they really want to clean it up take it over themselves. Run summer tournaments that are sanctioned and run by people they hire. That's the only way to actual eliminate it.

Anyone who thinks you can take the money out of the system by keeping college coaches away from a month of AAU tournaments is incredibly naive.
They could start by actually investigating big time programs, actually enforcing the rules (See Duke and Corey Maggette) and generally caring more than when a Federal Indictment forces their hand.
But here's the key: the NCAA doesn't care except as a PR move. Evaluate their decisions like baseball with steroids. I know there is cheating, but I'm making cash. I want the perception that I've stopped it without actually stopping it.
