Will be held this Saturday at Indiana State. Four of the top 10 teams on the men and on the women's side will be participating with many other ranked teams. There will be two races for the men and two for the women, the blue and the white, over 8K and 6K respectively. The men will move up to the 10K distance at the nationals on the same venue. Since the women are the second highest ranked team at the pre-Nats, they probably should be the favorites for one of the races. Presumably Florida State, ranked #3 to the Hoyas #5, will be in another race than the Hoyas. This will be a chance for the men, #22, to pick up some points for an at-large bid to the nationals, should they not qualify automatically at Regionals. Their competition at regionals will be Villanova and Princeton, and the Tigers beat the Hoyas earlier in the year. The men have had quite a few injuries this year, and this will be a chance for some of those, who have not run this year, to be tested over the national course.

Emily Jones was our top women finisher at 5th with a 20:20.0 time. Emily Infeld was not far behind. Renee Tomlin was 20th, Kristen Kasper was 35th, Joanna Stevens 51st, and Katie McCafferty 57th. I'll try to fill in the gaps.

No official word, but the team title would probably be between the Hoyas and Stanford.

Unofficial results indicate that the women won the race.

Big run from Emily Jones--Emily Infeld faded a bit, probably cautious because of her injury--I suspect stanford won by a narrow margin. I think we would have won with a fully fit emily Infeld. Decent runs by Tomlin, Chambers + Kasper--slightly below expectations for stevens + Mccafferty. Teams ranking will drop a bit after the race, still certainly a good shot at top 10 for nationals, maybe top 5 if Infeld returns to form + continued marginal improvements from the 3, 4, 5 runners--huge step up in class from Emily Jones will help

In the men's white race, A. Taye led the men with a 14th place finish in 24:02. TC Lumbar just beat Andrew Springer, 24:16.5 to 24.16.6, in 27th and 28th places, respectively. Alex Bean finished 65th in 24:43.9, with Bobby Peavey, running his first race of the season in 77th place in 24:50 and Tyler Anyan finishing 94th in 24:57. The team total is 201 pts.

In the open women's race (i.e., our team that did not make our top 7) were Rachel Schneider finishing 2nd in 21:47 and Lauren Borduin at 6th in 21:58.
In the men's open James Grimes was 5th. First race of the year for him.

Women won with 100 points. Colorado 2nd with 123 and Stanford 3rd with 125. Nevada got the jump on everybody before the results became official. Just to add to the information Nevada provided, Emily Infeld finished in 11th and Madeline Chambers finished 29th. Nice job by the Hoyas!
Men finished a solid 6th. Nevada's other school Portland finished 4th.

Thanks, Sleepy. Just to give everybody the runners times:
For the women, besides Emily Jones's great race in 5th at 20:20, Emily Infeld ran a 20:35.8 for her 11th place finish, Renee ran 20:54.6 in 20th, Maddy Chambers 21:01.0 in 29th, Kirsten 21:06, Joanna 21:23.5, and Katie 21:25.8.

Evan Bloomberg was our 7th man in 108th place in 25:06.6.
If they scored 7 runners, instead of 5, the women would have dominated as our 6th and 7th runners both finished in the top 60. So the women's team is really deep, as evidenced by our 8th and 9th runners coming in 2nd and 6th in the open race.

I was impressed by our men's team today, as they were 22nd going in, so 6th place is more than I would have expected. Taye and Lumbar kept up their fine running, so I hope they extend that through the playoffs (i.e., BE, Regionals, and the real Nats). The women should keep their #5 ranking after this weekend. Comparing our finishers with Florida State's runners in the blue race, we were pretty even; maybe the Hoyas were a little better. FSU is ranked #3 and they won the blue race, so the women did well nationally.
EDIT: Looking at the rankings, the Hoyas were beaten by five teams that were ranked ahead of them, but the Hoyas beat Tulsa, who was ranked 21st, and beat the teams that they were supposed to beat, i.e., behind them in the rankings. So, the men should move up a spot or two.

Additional finishers in the men's open race. James Grimes, with this 5th place finish at 24:47.7 would actually have been the Hoyas' 5th finisher. Also, at #18 was Ben Furcht in 25:34 and Brian Manning in 85th place with a time of 26:56.8.
