Republican takeover of House would lead to "hand-to-hand combat". Is there nothing beneath this guy?

And Biden's talking about strangling people!!
Janet Napolitano should issue an alert or something.
This extremist left-wing anger is a powderkeg that could easily explode into violence at any minute!!!!!!!!
I expect Wolf Blitzer, Kathleen Parker and, well, pretty much everyone at CNN to be in full panic mode!!!!

I think if I ever had to spend more than 15 seconds in a room smaller than the Verizon Center with you, there would be some hand-to-hand combat. No, it's not beneath me. I'm quite confident it's not beneath you, either.

Republican takeover of House would lead to "hand-to-hand combat". Is there nothing beneath this guy? Dick Cheney on Sept 4th 2008: "It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States." So what's really worse, Obama saying the mood in Washington would worsen if the republicans took the house, or Cheney essentially saying people will die if a democrats win the white house? If you're saying Obama is a terrible excuse of a human being, then you at least have to agree Cheney is an even worse one...

There's nothing wrong with saying that if the Republicans take Congress, the Hill will become more contentious. The fact that he used an obviously hyperbolic phrase ("hand-to-hand combat") doesn't change the fact that what he was saying is completely and totally correct. Hell, it's not even a controversial or partisan statement! It just means that he and a Congress controlled by the other party will not agree on things! Why must you make something out of a totally banal comment? Because deleted, that's why. MOD NOTE: Dial the personal rhetoric back a bit.

I think we should all calm down. Because God knows, when Sarah Palin put up a map on her PAC website with targets placed on 20 Congressional districts that she wanted Republicans to take back, the media did not go into a feeding frenzy AT ALL!!!
When she told conservatives not to retreat, but to reload, no one made a big deal of THAT! Nope, not one bit.
But remind me again how Dick Cheney saying something you found disagreeable is a defense of Barack Obama? I thought Dick Cheney was Satan's Imp. And Obama is the post-partisan President, bringing America together.
But at least Obama didn't call anyone a whore.

You expect better from the office.

On the list of things that should be a focus, a joke in a stump speech is very low. It all seems to be the logical conclusion of the town hall interruptions etc. with the faux "don't tread on me" chutzpah in some circles and the spitting on members during protests. The "you lie" moment also stands out as largely forgotten.

When she told conservatives not to retreat, but to reload, no one made a big deal of THAT! Nope, not one bit. Haha, she seems to use the "retreat/reload" phrase a lot. It's not all that compelling for me, since I still remember her using it after Dr. Laura told a caller "If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry outside of your race." I always thought that quote was way worse than the multiple n-bombs she used in the same conversation...

The "you lie" moment also stands out as largely forgotten. It doesn't work that way, sparky. The President of the United States and Vice-President, by virtue of their office, are held to a higher standard because, among other reasons, they oversee the FBI. Your attempt to equate the President to a public citizen at a meeting and to a Congressman doesn't work - just because Aaron Schrock dresses in a fabulous outfit doesn't mean that the President gets to, and just because someone at a town hall meeting rambles for twenty minutes doesn't mean that VPOTUS can do so without it becoming national news. Remember when Cheney used that naughty hand signal and you stewed as to how he could have the nerve to do that? This is like that, except the guy you like is making the error. Given how many he's made, I'd king of assumed you'd be used to it by now.

Anyone who thinks that I was seriously telling Elvado—who I have never met and know nothing about—that I would fight him is insane, not to mention engaging in the same sort of willful ignorance that it takes to think that the President of the United States is going to engage in "hand-to-hand combat" with anybody. MOD NOTE: As above, dial the rhetoric back. If you have questions as to why, go and re-read the board rules.

The difference with Dick is that he actually meant it, as he did when he conversed with Leahy on the floor. There is no evidence here that Obama actually meant it. What we have yet again is serial complainers trying to find reasons to complain about Obama, who is attempting to clean up one of the more significant messes in this country's history (all while an entire party sits on the sidelines of policymaking). I think Obama is doing just fine on his own - since he has never received real support from the other side. The systemic problems he inherited (not a matter of serious debate) will take some time to clean up, and my expectations were never to the contrary. While I wish progress were faster, I appreciate the attention he has given potential solutions, which is a lot more than I can say about others.
That this is even being tied to ability to oversee the FBI is almost even funnier. I mean really.
