Texas wins. Still on schedule for a game 7! Not necessarily after tonight! Giants win Game 4 to take a 3-1 series advantage. Just one more win to the franchise's first World Series win since 1954, and first since moving to San Francisco in 1958. When I was 21 years old, I was a junior at Georgetown and spending most of my time getting drunk, going to Hoyas basketball games, hitting on girls, sleeping through classes and cramming for finals and papers. When Madison Bumgarner was 21 years old, he was the starting pitcher for Game 4 for the World Series, where he pitched 8 scoreless innings allowing only 3 hits on the road. Talk about impressive. This could be the start of something very special with this kid. I think you are underestimating the great traditions of GU life at which -- by your own account -- you excelled!

Congratulations to the SF (nee NY) Giants and their fans. They finally got a World Series win. Well done. Gotta like that kid Lincecum. And they did it without Barry.
But winning 4 games to 1 didn't make for much of a Series.

Great for the Giants. Although now we have this:
Pat Burrell, Edgar Renteria, Juan Uribe, Aaron Rowand: 2 rings each Ted Williams, Ernie Banks, Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Bonds: 0 rings combined

Those lists have a lot to say about the value of "glue" guys though.

Those lists have a lot to say about the value of "glue" guys though. Or else they tell us a lot about the value of "rings" as a measurement of individual greatness in baseball.

Which team is going to be next in line to adopt Don't Stop Believing as it's theme song? The Giants pilfered this from the White Sox, and now they have their rings (or maybe it's all Rowand and Uribe; nah, couldn't be). So who is next in line? Cubs, where are you? Rangers? Mariners? Come on down!

The Giants pilfered this from the White Sox, and now they have their rings (or maybe it's all Rowand and Uribe; nah, couldn't be). So who is next in line? Cubs, where are you? Rangers? Mariners? Come on down! True, but at least San Francisco has a guy who redid the lyrics of the song to make them about the Giants. Also, Journey is from San Francisco, and Steve Perry has been in the stands while his song is playing and the Giants have been making their run. Just sayin'. Incredible scene last night in San Francisco (well, at least that's where I was, celebrating with the fans). Timmy pitched a gem, and what can you say about Renteria. Often injured through the regular season, he came up huge, huge, huge in this series, and while playing with a torn biceps tendon. The ageless wonder deserved that MVP award, no doubt, and who could have predicted that. And Wilson in the ninth... wouldn't want anyone else to close it out. What a great cast of characters on this team. And with the young arms and Buster as the young anchor of this offense, this team has the capability of being very good for a long time, if we can keep the right parts together. I'm hoping and expecting to see Timmy and the Giants in the playoffs for many more years to come. Sorry we couldn't give you a better series, but that's more Texas' fault. How bout them Giants!? What an unbelievable season. I'll be in attendance at the victory parade tomorrow afternoon. Finally: 49ers Super Bowl victory in my lifetime? Check. Giants World Series victory in my lifetime? Check. Georgetown NCAA Championship in my lifetime? Hopefully soon...

Congratulations to the SF (nee NY) Giants and their fans. Geez - you and my Dad have got to give it a rest! Try talking to my Step-dad... he's a Dodger (Brooklyn) fan from boyhood. Still hates the Giants -- even more than the Yankees!
