It's sooooooo boring waiting for BB season to begin........
1) Be less patient. When things are going badly, I would like to see him mix things up more on both O and D. More pull up 10-15 ft J's, even more fast breaks and when other teams are doing a press on us use the opportunity to aim to punish them not merely aim to get the ball over the line. Last year IMO we either went for the back door layup or a 3. We were so predictable.
2) Use a variety of momentum changers - ie full court pressure, different zones, waves of subs for aggressive D - whatever. None of this means we have to do it for the whole game - just until we stop their MO. This is really a corollary of 1). We should not let the other team have any big runs. We will have lots of fresh athletic legs with which we can play in your chest hard nose D as we did in the 80's. You need to practice seriously running a zone from Oct 15 - so that we can when the situation warrants. Don't get me wrong - I am not advocating a zone - except for a limited time and only as a momentum changer.
3) Give all the bigs meaningful playing time from game 1. This will get them ready for BE and the tournaments. They all have potential and need to get game experience. As the season progress if it becames apparent that one or the other isn't up to it, his PT can decrease.

1. Give a few guys more of a chance to earn playing time. I don't want there to be any Vee situations this year where we have a guy who's impressive every time he touches the floor, but he only touches the floor 3 times all season. 2. Introduce a full court press. It doesn't need to be used more than 10% of the time, but just have it in the arsenal. 3. End of the game clock management: Have some set plays drawn up for the right players. Game-tieing/winning 3's go to Austin, Jason, Hollis. Period. Have some plays ready so there's none of this 10...9...8...ok Chris still has the ball, we gotta do something...7...6...here it comes!...5...4...3...is he still dribbling?...2...why pass it to Austin now?!...1...horrible shot.

1) Play nasty, aggressive, bone crushing defense, including the aforementioned full court press 2) Push the pace on offense 3) Develop Hollis, give him confidence, make him assertive, isolate him in offensive sets where he can facilitate, score, and succeed.

To crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

1. Play more people/develop a bench and quit acting like a basketball game is looking for the cure for cancer--it's a damn basketball game--these guys were good enough to be offered a scholarship--they should be smart/talented enough to contribute to the team in some manner--and more then 30 seconds.
2. Loosen things up and adjust to the type of team he has--these guys were better last year when they played more uptempo and less structured on offense--and it'll be same this year--especially with best halfcourt offensive player gone to NBA-so let these guys get out and run.
3. If people don't want to play defense--find some who will. Quit accepting mediocre efforts and making excuses for it. Notice how the team responded to your tirade during BET timeout against Cuse? Don't be afraid to insert a foot in behinds if guys don't want to take defense seriously/do what they shouldn't have to be told--hustle and play defense.

1. Use our guards to extend the defense, and try full court pressure. 2. Force himself to give Sims and the 4 freshman significant playing time eaerly in the year and with the regulars, not as part of a "scrub team." 3. Continue to evolve the offense to a more up tempo attack whenever the opportunity presents.
