No, there is no bandwagon, there isn't even a Georgetown Football fanbase beyond a few people that post on this board, some football alumni and some parents. The newbies posting here after the win are just big Georgetown ATHLETICS fans in general.
We go to men's and women's basketball, soccer and lacrosse games, football games, etc. We're just excited to see the football team do something positive, but maybe that's what you consider the bandwagon.
As for posts on this board, I have no idea how many I've made. To be honest, I haven't posted on the football or basketball board much in the past few years. However, the whole argument of judging people based on their number of posts is an absurd one. I've made almost 4,000 posts on Hoyatalk but that doesn't mean I'm more of a fan or know more about Georgetown Athletics than someone who regularly reads the board but has never posted once.

You're right, GUHoya, I'll let it go. But after saying football is just an impediment to your precious basketball last year, don't oversell your loyalty. I remember that post vividly.

You're right, GUHoya, I'll let it go. But after saying football is just an impediment to your precious basketball last year, don't oversell your loyalty. I remember that post vividly. Look, I'm not trying to be right, I just think that everyone posting here is a loyal Georgetown Fan. If you have something personal against me that's fine, but don't call everyone here newbies and say they're jumping on the bandwagon because they don't have enough posts on the football board by your standards to be excited about the team. As for my past comments, you clearly remember this post better than I do. However, I will say that I agree with my past sentiment that there is no point in having a football program if we're going to half ass it and just throw money into a pit. If we're going to have a football program I'd like to see more institutional support and more money spent on it so that we can compete. Otherwise, I'd rather not have a football program and use that money for "my precious basketball" and other programs. I was at every Georgetown football game during my 4 years of college and I've been to quite a few since I graduated. I may not be as devoted to Georgetown football as you but that's not the point. Georgetown football needs every fan it can get, so I'd be a little more welcoming to all of us newbies jumping on the bandwagon. Back to the main topic of this thread though, great win by the team and let's hope they can build on this! GO HOYAS!!!

I am an occasional football spectator (2-3 games a year on average for the last 13 years), and this is the most cause for excitement for me since the ECAC/IFC bowl (vs. Robert Morris) up on Kehoe field.
Personally, here's hoping the team continues their success this season to the point where a bandwagon will start running!
Go Hoyas!

Can we just enjoy being 2-0? Kelly's system is never going to win a national championship and will cost us recruits.

Can we just enjoy being 2-0? Kelly's system is never going to win a national championship and will cost us recruits. From what perspective to you view Coach Kelly's "System"? are you a former player? and dad of a former player? a fan? and what is his "system"?

Classic - surely the sarcasm would have been clear had you posted more often on the board of record for GU's flagship sports program.

For clarification it's a joke about what people always say about JTIII and his system as the basketball head coach playing of the fact that people can't just be happy right now that we're winning games in the way people on the basketball board are never happy even when we're having success.

Sarcasm noted (nice one) but let's be clear, a large portion of the credit needs to go to the new OC. Coach Patenaude is what the program has needed since 2004, he's a real play caller who understands college fball in the 21st century. We've always had the horses, in my opinion, to play in the PL but never had the right play caller.
Besides W's, if we get anything else out of this years season, it should be $$$ that is aimed at killing any possible coaching turnover. We need to keep this guy in Blue and Grey. We've gotten this guy on the cheap and by luck after hofstra disbanded fball; let's keep him! Teams will be calling after they see our offensive turn around.

I think derhoya has it right. The new OC - at least if these two games are representative - is the change we've needed.
I'm actually curious about der's comment about our talent level. I'm not sure if it's just been one way to explain our losing in the past, but I've heard it argued we're hamstrung by having higher academic standards (and thus less talented recruits). It'd be nice to think that we're still getting good recruits. I don't know how you objectively analyze whether our talent is the same, better or worse than opponents, but it's thought-provoking to wonder.
