Just decommitted from Texas, may reclassify as a '10 recruit. According to Scout article, "Since decommitting from Texas, Taylor and the Daniels family have fielded phone calls from schools from USC, UCLA, Washington, UNLV, St. John’s, Kentucky, Georgetown, Memphis and Gonzaga."
6'8" forward from Woodland Hills, CA, whom Scout ranks 35th in the 2011 class.

How does it work if he's a 2010? Is he eligible from this November or second semester?

Kentucky.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1115654EXCERPTS Long considered a member of the 2011 class, Daniels, a forward for Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Calif., has been granted academic clearance to play college ball in the upcoming 2010 season, Taft coach Derrick Taylor said Thursday. hhe hasn't decided if he's going to go to prep school or go to (college) this year because he got cleared by the NCAA."
Daniels is a member of the 2010 class in age, but he missed a significant portion of his sophomore school year during the spring of 2008 while he and his father took care of Daniels' grandfather, who was suffering from cancer, Taylor said.
This summer he has loaded up on classes to catch back up with his original 2010 class, Taylor said, and word came two days ago that he has been cleared.
"The process is just for his father and DeAndre to decide if they want to go to school now," he said. "We have to do it by this weekend. Do they want to go to school now, or do they want to attend prep school?"
"I'm trying to pin them down to give me an answer tonight. You have to have an idea of which direction you want to go."
The above is the Good News. The bad news is EVERYONE -- including UK -- is after this kid right now.

It will probably be hard to get this Cali kid all the way to the east coast, but I like how we are being opportunistic. This strategy has worked recently with both Aaron Bowen and Chris Wright.
But it may also show that we're not very secure with our 2011 target list.
I think at the end of the day, we'll be okay for 2011. But it's a little precarious right now.

A west coast kid coming to college earlier than expected? Paging Hollis Thompson. Hollis Thompson, to the recruiting floor, please.

But it may also show that we're not very secure with our 2011 target list. I see it more as a "bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." But, he's really more of a THREE. We already have Freeman, Hollis and Bowen at that spot. He would be a great addition, especially at the last minute, but it doesn't seem very likely to me.

Rumor is he won't end up at UCLA. No reason to go to USC with them on probation, Gonzaga and UNLV don't seem like realistic options so that only leaves UW on the west coast.

If he was a 4, we would have a pitch since he could conceivably start right away. But since he's a 3, I'm guessing he won't be interested in sitting a year.
Plus Calipari has his tentacles on him now and that pretty much only ends one way.

At 6'8", he can share PT at the 4 with Nate & Co.

He has been described as a point forward. I think he could definitely play the 4 for us. He's not that bulky, but probably more bulky than hollis. He's listed as a PF by the services.

Where does it say he's even interested in Georgetown? It says they contacted him--and if he's not interested at all in UCLA or USC-why visit them? My guess-to make his "deal" with Kentucky look less suspicious/shady as it's been rumored all summer.

Before you get twisted - realize he is 6'8 and 180 # just what need this year is he going to fill? He's a 3 Don't get me wrong, if he is special - take him, if we can get him
