Why does it seem the government tried this case with one arm tied behind its back?

How exactly is he walking? He was found guilty on one count and will be re-tried on the others.
Is the lack of verdicts on the other counts disappointing? Sure, but let's not pretend Blago's a free man now.

On a related note, it appears as though the Hammer will walk (charges not pursued by feds but charges still pending in TX).

I heard on MSNBC this morning that the hung jury in all 23 counts was due to one lone juror....... Ladies and Gentlemen, your next Senator from the state of Illinois!!!!! Oh, and Jersey: I suppose "charges not pursued by feds" would be one way to characterize DeLay's circumstance. "Investigation closed with no charges found by feds and without indictment" might be another..... The Texas charges against him seem pretty weak, although they certainly sound dramatic. I expect him to be cleared on that as well. Now, having said that, in the interest of fair and balanced, while I don't think DeLay did anything illegal, he certainly did things that were unethical, at least IMO, so I don't think he should be back in Congress, but he also probably shouldn't face any criminal conviction.
