The day after the All-Star game, the biggest wasteland in the sports calendar, always reminds me of the late, great Glenn Brenner. It was on this day in about 1990 that he had 8 minutes to fill and was reduced to showing rodeo injuries to kill time. Then he completely lost it. I don't think the full clip is available, but this is a pretty good highlight. Still miss the big guy.

Showing how much of a sports junky I am, I used to enjoy the AAA All-Star game, which was, for a short time, featured in prime time on the Wednesday following the Tuesday All-Star game.

I'd watch the Futures Game -- the only hope a Royals fan can have right now. I watched a bit of that - and it was kind of USA blowout. USA! USA! They really should schedule it for the day after the All Star game - on Sunday it was competing with the World Cup final and regular MLB games, yesterday it would have competed with absolutely nothing. |
