But I guess I should have.
The NCAA has announced the format for the expanded field of 68 to begin next season. No one that I saw correctly predicted or for that matter, even advocated this particular format.
The last four at-large teams will play each other for whatever spot that the higher two teams would have otherwise occupied.
The bottom ranked four automatics will play each other for the spot opposite two of the #1 seeds.
Count on the NCAA find a different way to do something wrong every single time.
So there will always be something like 12 teams ranked lower are getting a bye than teams above them.

Trying to give the NCAA the benefit of the doubt -- although I don't know why I should -- it looks like the goal was to be fair to the power conferences, mid majors and the single bid conferences. Apparently, the smallest conferences had gone and complained about being in the play-in game. So to "be fair," the expanded field will feature 2 extra teams that would otherwise be lambs to the slaughter playing #1s facing each other. There will also be 2 bubble in and 2 bubble out teams playing each other. I see why they did it this way, but I just don't agree with it.

Meh. The NCAA tournament doesn't start 'til Thursday.
That'll never change until they expand to 96 or 128.
So, in about three years in other words.

The "clutter" was digging back a couple of pages to find an old thread rather than leaving well enough alone, and allowing a news story from yesterday to stand on its own. But why would I expect anything different?

The "clutter" was an active thread in the top 5 posts of the main forum on these boards. But the main forum is about Hoya basketball, not Florida athletics, so you didn't find it. Why would I expect anything different?

Whether the topic "should" be here or there is up to the powers that be. But if the other discussion isn't here, then how can this be clutter? Either thread could be on the wrong board, but it can't really be clutter then. But either way, I wasn't trying to cause a problem as usual. But for some reason ... nevermind.

The other topic was there. It had the un-subtle title "NCAA Deal Reached; Tourny Expansion for 2011." It was at the very top of the HoyaTalk forum when this thread was started.

I know stig. My point was that this thread, given that it isn't directly Hoya Basketball -- or even Hoya related -- would be on the general pro and college board. I don't care that it's over on the Hoya Hoops board, but to jump on me for such an egregious error of actually posting it here, where I would argue it belongs, is a bit of an overreaction at the very least. I think it's pretty clear that I wasn't starting some controversy intentionally, but once again others insist on doing so when I happen to be the person who starts the discussion.
