Senior day is saturday. There's a home game against uconn on wednesday, but they decided to do it saturday so more people can attend.
As far as RPI the men sit at #21 right now. There are 48 spots and last year there were 22 conferences represented in last years tournament so there must be 22 automatic bids because obviously not all those leagues would get bids otherwise. so that leaves 26 spots remaining. So the hoyas look to be safe right now since some of those conference champs will come from teams ranked above the hoyas for arguments sake using the highest rpi team as the automatic bid Georgetown should be the 10th at large team into the field for the remaining 26 at large spots. But automatic bids don't always go to the highest RPI team, so there's still a chance to get left out especially if we falter down the stretch.

The Men Destroyed marquette 6-2 on senior day. Great send off to a great senior class. Everyone was able to get in the game since we so throughly dominated. Remember there's still 1 more home game this wednesday against Uconn though.

looks like a big big game on Wednesday with UConn coming to town....I believe the hoyas would clinch a first place divisional finish with a W which would be a great accomplishment! Students get out there to support the guys!

I love how they jumped the men up to 22nd in the TDS tournament rankings after not having us ranked at all last week. It's like hmm maybe the team who's leading the division of the conference will make the tournament after all.
only receiving 5 votes in the Soccer Times poll. Sheesh what's it going to take to break back into the rankings. I would hope a win tomorrow would do it.

Men up to #28 in the NSCAA rankings. So close. A win over Uconn should put us in.
Huge game tomorrow. Everyone come out and support the men. 2pm kickoff.

Georgetown home match vs. sixth-ranked Connecticut postponed until Thu at 2 pm (water-logged pitch)
Last I checked, North Kehoe was still a field. (/sarcasm)--Admin

www.goal.com/en-us/news/2617/youth-soccer/2010/10/27/2186306/college-soccer-professor-the-freshman-15Steve Neumann named one of the best 15 freshman in the land "Neumann has burst onto the scene in commanding fashion over the last month. Through the first nine games of the season, he had one goal and three assists. Over the next six, he added eight goals and four assists, although he was coming off the bench for the Hoyas. Currently, he is the most productive 12th man (regardless of class) in college soccer. During his offensive explosion, Georgetown have rattled off six straight wins and moved into first place in the Big East Blue Division standings. Georgetown's stealth weapon off the bench won’t be a secret for much longer as teams wise up to the substitute’s production. It will be interesting to see if he can continue the hot streak against the stingy defense of UCONN on Wednesday and Notre Dame on Saturday. "

Well done, Hoyas!
I know that saying this will likely trigger a "but what about the facilities" fusillade, but I just wanted to to reflect on how far the athletic department and so many Georgetown teams have come in the last 5 years or so, and see how that work is paying off.
While there are areas that definitely need improvement (and have not been helped by the economic downturn, with its impact on fundraising), the little things like modernizing the strength and conditioning program, adding some additional scholarships in several sports, modernizing basketball ticket operations, and several coaching decisions.
While some teams haven't improved as much (football, even though this is the highest PL win total in years; men's and women's lax, though the latter two had been in the most elite level), many sports, we've been seeing slow and steady improvement in a number of sports that are now taking a leap to the big stage: Mens and Womens Soccer, Womens Basketball, Men's Golf last season. And there are others that remain under the radar, but are becoming competitive for the first time in years -- volleyball, field hockey, baseball, softball, (even football, though the last month has been rough).
The next steps are just as tough, making priorities and getting commitments to endow more scholarships, replace Augie Morelli, finish the MSF, build the Athletic Training Facility, and figure out how to best utilize the space in McDonough, Yates, and both Kehoe Fields, to support the excellence of our 700+ varsity student-athletes, and the fitness of the rest of our students.
But in the moment of a program-defining win for the men's soccer team, I'm inspired to say thank you to all of those who took the steps over the last 5 years to lay foundations for a stronger all-around program. The results are showing, more and more frequently, with games like this one.
(Mods, feel free to move this post if it belongs somewhere else).

yeah not the best result, but since the title was already locked up along with a spot in the NCAAs I imagine the boys were a little less focused. But still not a good result. ND is a tough place to play.
