He's been mentioned in other threads, but I don't think he's got his own, and he probably deserves one.
Unclear if he's going to reclassify to the class of 2012, the NJ St. Peter's Prep guard has been lighting it up this summer. Possibly the best high school shooter in the country, Telep's latest article has Davis listing Georgetown in his top 6 along with Villanova, Pitt, St. Joe's, UVA and George Mason. All of his top 6 except the Hoyas have offered, and he's taken unofficial visits to all of his top 6 schools.
Scout's Scott Phillips had this to say from the Nike Skills Academy:
"Myles Davis, SG – Although the smallest player in the Paul Pierce Skills Academy, Davis didn’t let that bother him one bit. In a positioning drill, Davis was able to stay low and gain leverage on every one of his opponents and receive the entry pass in spots where he wanted it. Once he received the pass, Davis knocked down contested jumpers, or used a pump fake to get to the basket. He continued to shoot the ball well throughout the day after that drill and showed he is an elite level threat from deep."

THanks Chep3... now we know we ARE in the running for Myles Davis. Man, with a name like that ... well, let's just say if we don't get him, I'll be Kind of Blue.

Do we really know what Thompson and Davis are thinking? How credible is www.cuttingdownnets.com? I hope he speaks the truth. In my pessimistic mind set, if true, we have a 1-in4 shot for Sam, 1-in-6 shot for Davis, and 1-in-4 shot for Chol. And most of competition is premium programs. I'd be absolutely thrilled to sign one of these 3. The odds are not good that we get 2.

Well, it does say he may reclassify to 2012. Anyone know why? If he is as good shooter as advertised and says in 2011, do we sign him up? Are we sure we want to take a guard in 2011? Still have MS, JC, VS and AB after this year.

Still have MS, JC, VS and AB after this year. Think the bigger question is whether or not III can keep MS, VS and AB happy on a team where the VAST majority of the minutes at the 1-3 spots will be divided among Wright, Clark, Freeman and Thompson. If not and we lose 1 or more, then having another guard coming in next year makes sense. Not trying to be a downer by bringing up "the t-word" in the pre-season, but recent years have shown that we have our fair share or more, especially when guys fall out of the rotation. And with 12 guys on scholarship next year and coach generally only playing an 8-man or at the absolute max 9-man rotation... I mean, you do the math. I'm sure the staff is aware of this and the fact that not every underclassmen on the current team will necessarily be back next year factors in to their recruiting strategy. As far as Davis, I know others aren't crazy about him since he's sort of a tweener/small 2guard, but I'm always an advocate of any kid who is knock-down shooter. Under JTIII our best guards are the ones who can knock it down consistently, while more athletic players who can't consistently sink the 3 ball have struggled. So I think Davis is at least worth strong consideration.

I think the freshman will be fine with whatever playing time they get. Vee would be the only one to worry about, but we don't know these kids so know one really needs to worry about it right now.

Maybe, maybe not. We've had freshmen bail after not getting many minutes their first year if they're under the impression that more minutes are not coming the next year (Thornton, Guibunda). It's definitely not something worth talking about or worrying about in September since so much can happen. But as far as recruiting, I do think it's in the staffs mind--not necessarily "oh, we'll probably lose X, Y, or Z" but just that it's never wise to rely too heavily on the idea that all underclassmen return. I think you always have to keep your options open as much as possible and can't bank on anything. If you do, eventually you'll get caught with your pants down.

Myles Davis I would take in a heartbeat--he's arguably the best shooter in the class and to me you always have room for a great shooter-not to mention he's a member of NJ Playaz--and would help us with AAU program---Kyle Anderson, Desmond Hubert, etc.... and Davis has scored against big time competition-so he's not a reach-he torched Oak Hill, and had a nice AAU Spring/Summer.

So What if we have other guards on the roster. We'll be Miles Ahead if we add this kid. Round About Midnight madness would be a great time for a commitment! He could signal the Birth of the Cool new era for Hoya Hoops! The Hoyas will be Cookin'!

Miles Smiles whenever he thinks of the Hoyas. It will be one of our biggest Milestones when he steps on the court. We'll all be Relaxin' when he's on the floor for the Hoyas. Coaches around the country are mixing up a Bitches Brew to try and lure him away, but he knows that once he joins the Hoyas it will only be Seven Steps to Heaven (or 6 games to a National Championship!) My wife tried to tell me he won't be coming, but I said to her, "My Funny Valentine, you must be joking!"

If we don't sign Myles, Sir Saxa will be feeling some kind of blue.

Interesting contrast to DSR. He's a combo, but more of a shooter, while DSR is a combo, but more of a driver. ? to the board: If they both wanted to pop, who would you take?
