I could care what he does at Rutgers--it's still RUTGERS for goodness sake and last guys who were the "saviors" or thought they would be ended up transferring to Duke (Dahntay Jones) and Florida (Mike Rosario). Mike Rice is an upgrade over the moron Fred Hill but Dave Cox gets mentioned more in updates then he does landing recruits. Kenya Hunter has landed more recruits for Georgetown and he's been in program just as long as Cox was and Hunter still is employed by Georgetown--so think Hoyas will be fine.

It's basically propaganda. No way a guy like cook ends up at Rutgers.

Cox will be more powerful at RU because Curtis will actually funnel kids his way (which was why he was hired here too, but Pops sorta stepped on that). People can say "Oh, it's Rutgers, people won't go there." But people used to say the same stuff about Kansas State, and they have landed kids through the exact same method (Curtis funneling kids to his other buddy Hill, plus Huggins connections in other areas before that) to the point where they're one of the strongest hoops programs in the country at the moment. If you've got the right pipeline, you can get kids to just about any high major.
I don't know that Cook will end up there, but I think they've got about as good a shot to get him as we do, maybe better (not really saying a lot). I don't know that QC is the type of kid who is gonna go where Malone tells him to--I know they're very close, but Cook has a ton of options and seems like a kid who is competent enough to make decisions for himself. Still, you will start to see Cox land some DCA kids, in the exact same way he's going to land Goodman. Maybe not the absolute cream of the crop, but some decent players.

In your K State v RU comparison, I think you are underestimating the lure of Huggy Bear and his umpteen NCAA tourneys prior to K Sate. Rutgers new coach has Zero. Not suggesting no one will go to RU, but Cox definitely has a tougher sell there.

You are also ignoring the fact that Kansas State has the academic standards of a Shopping Mall Prep School.
Rutgers has been talked about as the "sleeping giant" for a long time now. Thing is--if you are on East Coast and in Rutgers backyard--dream school is UNC or Duke--has been/will be that way as long as Williams/Coach K are there.
