I see it more likely to be the same starting 5 as last year substituting Sims or Lubick in place of monroe.
I think it'd be great for us to have the starting line up you propose because it will mean sims and thompson have made great strides. But more likely than not Clark keeps his starting job imo.
I also hope that if Vee is around that he gets some quality run. I really like his game, and he's already expressed displeasure at his playing time, so I think another year of not getting playing time and he's gone for sure.

HSB, where did you hear that Vee was unhappy with playing time? To be honest I am not really surprised. The kid plays hard and always seemed to make a good play or two every time he gets in but he never seemed to be able to increase his minutes.

I know we've put some tiny lineups out there that couldn't rebound, but can we really play a Wright, Clark, Freeman, Lubick, Vaughn lineup with a straight face? We can't really, right? So I think Clark gets a seat and Hollis starts. Hollis and Clark were similar players last year and Hollis was a freshman is almost half a foot taller. He gets on a weight program and you can't keep him on the bench especially being so small already. Also we'll need Lubick in there with Vaughn, Sims, Abraham...pretty much anyone else who is kind of tall. I can't see any of our bigs outside of Lubick being able to create their own offense or create offense for others. So I'll go Wright, Freeman, Thompson, Lubick, Vaughn. Vee and Clark off the bench. I'd kill for Henry to develop, but I'm skeptical. There's no frontrunner for the last big in the rotation.

Starting lineup on day 1 will most likely be Wright, Clark, Free, Vaughn, and the winner of the Sims/Benimon/Lubick battle in the preseason. At the end of games, I think he'll run CW/JC/AF/HT/JV. By the postseason, who knows what the lineup might be.
It'll be interesting though... The most III has ever really worked into a rotation was 8.5--8 regulars with an occasional 9th getting spot minutes. We've got 12 on scholarship right now for next year, so if history is any indication, we're looking at at least 3 guys not getting much if any meaningful PT. Hopefully, III and staff can successfully manage any chemistry issues that may present.

Vee mentioned that he felt he deserved more playing time than he got last year on facebook recently, but i probably shouldn't have brought it up with the whole no rumors thing.

Rumor or not, he's right. Every time he was in a game, he did something good. Why not see how far that can go, rather than leave a cold or pressing Wright in the game (or even worse, a barely standing, soon-to-be-confirmed very sick Freeman)?

Even though I would love for the Hoyas to play a bigger lineup, I'd be absolutely stunned if Clark sat the bench to start games.

I think you should learn our team, see how coach actually plays his players, learn their positions, and learn their names...its not that hard (at least you tried with the heights) Really the hard part with the starters will be the PF...really I don't think it will be who wins the competition for most playing time but who can win the jump the most. I think it was Julian last year but a Freshman could take the role. I see the starting lineup as:
Point Guard- C. Wright 6' 1" Shooting Guard- J. Clark 6'2" Small Forward- A. Freeman 6' 4" Power Forward- H. Sims 6' 10" (I think he will make some great improvements and put on some weight, he showed potential at the top of the key and the zone.) Center- J. Vaugh 6' 9"
Top reserves: Small Forward- H. Thompson 6' 7" Guard- V. Sanford 6'3" Power Forward- N. Lubick 6'8" Center- M. Abraham 6'9" Point Guard- M. Starks 6'1" Small Forward- J. Benimon 6'7"
Other reserves: Small Forward - Aaron Bowen
We will have great depth and I have confidence that our Freshman will produce, our Sophomores will have great improvement over their first year, and our upperclassmen will lead and help carry our team. I could see either Hollis or Jason as our 6th man as long as they dedicate to defense and energy.
I hope that Moses will make a defensive impact and that Markel and Nate will contribute all around (but Nate is one that I could see have difficulty transitioning to the college game). Im pretty sure Aaron needs some more time but maybe he can come in as a Nikita (early) like role.
Vee will make a huge jump from Fr to So year and will earn significant playing time. Hollis will put on weight, feel more comfortable in the system, and move into a major scoring role. Unless Jerelle develops some high level and consitent outside game, I can't see him getting much playing time unless there are injuries. Stephka might get some spot time as an outside shooter but I doubt it.
Jason is a player and will continue to improve and will only contribute more. He can either develop into a So/Jr. Sapp or if he commits to energetic play, a PEJr role. Its Henry's 3rd year here and a lot of people were expecting a lot from him before last year and it is definitely the same this year. He MUST perform, he has many of the tools but he just hasn't put it together. He can play defense and definitely block (imagine Moses and Sims at the same time) and has great passing ability.
Austin, Chris, and Julian are this teams seniors and NEED to lead this team. Julian needs to improve his conditioning, his play really dropped off the second half of the season. Austin will get his health under control and the staff will monitor him and he will vault into the top 5-10 all time in most stats before hes done. Chris will lead this team in all ways, even if his scoring is off, though passing, defense, and his other skills. They need to all support each other and make sure that they produce, even if one is having an off game (which will happen, even with all modern technology, Austin's health problems may arise).
I'm really excited for this season and can't wait to see what coach does with these players. He potentially has the best depth he has had in a while (as long as the Freshman produce and upperclassmen improve) and some great athleticism. Hopefully he will focus on defense, crisp passing, and other fundamentals.
Long post :/ My .02 cents

Doesn't that always seem to happen?? You bust on someone for messing up names, then you mess one up yourself. Oh well.....we all have a long off-season to learn more about this team, and even then we won't know half what we think we do!

We need to run two teams, the back ups need to come on for 4 minutes in each half and press and play big D and real up tempo. It gives the starters a good break and puts pressure on the other team to match up.. Vee ands Nate (vanilla gorilla) will shine in that set-up

Coach likes veterans First game starting lineup: Wright Freeman Clark Vaughn Sims
But what it will be a little down the line is anybody's guess. Henry's got to step up this year big time because he has Nate waiting in the wings and Abraham a little later as he develops. By all accounts Lubick is a beast and very hard-nosed and hard-playing guy. It will be hard to keep him out of the starting lineup or 6 th man spot as the season goes on if he develops his potential like I think he will. By the way I see him now being listed as 6'9 on some scouting reports.
The problem will be to find a spot for Hollis, who has a great deal of talent and Benimon who plays with passion. It basically could be a true 8 man rotation - the starting 5 and Hollis, Lubick, Jerelle as first line subs ( really replacements) or even rotating into the starting linup at times, depending on their performance in the last game and the opponent.
We will have enough bodies to play a dogged defense and maybe the guys who are willing and able to do this will see their minutes increase. Vee, Abraham and Starks will be breathing down their necks and able to step in if anyone falters.
A rotation of Vaughn, Jerrelle, Lubick, Sims and later Abraham for the bigs is possible. Keep 'em fresh and fighting like hell on the D
Season going to be fun - a lot of possibilities. No one trick Pony, this team.

PG - Wright 2G - Clark SF - Freeman F- Thompson C - Vaughn
Top reserves:
Vee Benimon
The jury is out on the incoming freshman. Can't gauge anything with them on what they are going to do until they do it on the college level. As far as Sims.....the jury is out on him as well.

Re Vee/playing time. I feel for the kid. He came in and he worked hard and did very well. From early reports out of the Va tech scrimmage and the times he got in, he had a very successful freshmen season. He makes things happen, and I love when he is on the court.
But that is why I am concerned. With Starks and Bowen coming in, how much more time is he going to get from last season? Even assuming he is ahead of Starks and Bowen, which he should be, does that just mean his minutes stay the same. The backcourt is even more crowded now. I don't have the answers, but I do know Vee Sanford is a good player and good find. We are lucky to have him and I hope one day he is a starting guard for the hoyas.

If Thompson plays that small lineup--it's IGNORANT. If I see Wright, Clark, Freeman, Hollis, and a Big--I'll just tape the games and then watch the losses in fast forward. You don't win anything playing midgets and especially a small team that doesn't play defense.
How friggin OBVIOUS does it have to be that the guy's best teams were with a big frontcourt?? Some guys on this team have to decide--do you want to win or do you want to start? Sacrifice for the good of the team or put ego ahead of the team? One of those guards has to be a bench guy and based on end of year--I'd put Clark on bench and start Hollis.
Sims--he needs to decide if basketball means as much as Midnight Madness and acting like a goofball. If it does--he should be a factor--but if he's happy spending more time wearing Kanye shades and high fiving fans on blizzard games as if he's at a Hot 97 concert, then just pass him by and play Lubick or Abraham--who will play more if this team is serious about winning because he'll rebound/defend.
No more excuses--you either play defense and play hard every game or you shouldn't play.

I like Vee too. But the problem Georgetown (and many other programs have), is that kids no longer want to wait and work their way up to the starting role / lots of PT. Of course, PT should be meted out based on ability, but Vee hasn't shown me that he should be ahead of Chris, Austin and Jason. So what's wrong with taking the PT you get, developing your skills and then coming in as a junior and taking on a bigger role when Chris and Austin are gone? I hope that's the attitude Vee will take.
