Seems like a perfect UK fit. Maybe they'll even be able to get him to attend a class or two over the course of the year before he declares for the 2012 draft.

We should stay after kids like this even if we believe UK is the leader. Class of '11? We've just seen what happened with USC and is about to happen with UCONN. It would not shock anyone if UK ran into trouble too and/or Calipari bolts for the league before that happens.

It doesn't hurt to be in everyone's list.

It doesn't hurt to be in everyone's list. Agreed, but if what was said earlier about Chandler having significant academic issues is true, I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

His recent update sure sounded like he was almost a commitment to Kentucky.

This is starting to sound like a race between Kentucky and Georgetown.
While the kid may want to go to Kentucky, they already have Marquis Teague and Mike Gilchrist committed, and are hot on the trail of (and I believe considered one of the favorites for) Quincy Miller, Johnny O'Bryant, Lebryan Nash, Tony Wroten, Anthony Davis and Amir Williams. Every one of those guys is ranked higher than Chandler according to Scout.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Courtesy of CTCRecruiting:
The Lawrence North big man, who originally committed to Louisville then re-opened his recruiting, now could be headed several places, Indiana, Purdue and Kentucky among them. Chandler, at 6-10, is the top uncommitted player in Indiana, ranked 10th in the nation, an instant impact player in college. The tea leaves are currently going as such: Chandler spurned Indiana travel teams to play with Derrick Rose's team in Chicago. Rose, the top pick in the 2008 NBA draft and now the point guard for the Chicago Bulls, played at Memphis for John Calipari. Calipari is now the coach at Kentucky. Got all that? OK. Now, are people reading too much into things? Maybe. That's certainly one school of thought. But it's sounding more and more as if if Kentucky is the team to beat.

Crean needs this guy. there are rumblings of him not being able to sign in state talent and Purdue is getting most of the players with Teague headed to Kentucky. He will sell his soul to get this kid.

Why would any big man ever choose to play for Tom Crean? Chandler will be in Lexington more then likely but certainly over playing for a clown like Tom Crean. Maybe Tom will use his "You remind me of D-Wade" pitch he uses with EVERY recruit.

From Rivals article at Adidas Nations:
"Michael Chandler gave a list that included Kentucky, Oklahoma, Connecticut, Miami, Providence, Tennessee, Indiana and Purdue."

Well, apparently Chandler listed Georgetown in his interview with Scout at Adidas Nations:
"Michael Chandler has Providence, Miami, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Connecticut, Tennessee, Georgetown and Oklahoma on his list. He’s hoping to visit Providence soon. He said he will sign in the spring."
