Nice to learn that the Obama Administration under the auspices of Ken Salazar and his newly-fired assistant waived this very rig's requirement to file an emergency plan just 10 days before the explosion.
I'm sure it was a left-over Bush/Cheney directive.

I'm just wondering if we can have a show of hands of how many people believe this statement from today's presser:
"The American people should know that from the moment this disaster began, the federal government has been in charge of the response effort."
Sure. OK. Whatever you say.
This does not discount the valid points made earlier about the limited effectiveness of the federal government in a disaster of this nature. Just somewhat baffled that he would make such an unbelievable assertion.

10:10 a.m. President arrives in New Orleans
1:25 p.m. Scheduled departure back to Chicago
Good to see the President really putting in the time on this one. He spends more time playing golf or attending a baseball game than he can devote to this problem. I concede this is all form over substance stuff, but when did he become so tone deaf?

When Obama told his Malia story yesterday at the press conference, am I the only one who was thinking of Bill Paxton, a.k.a. Private Hudson:
"Well why don't we put her in charge?!?!"
;D
