I was saying goodbye prematurely to Kenny Mitchell as he is still in the hunt for the 200m place for Eugene. In the prelims today he was 2nd in his heat and moves on to tomorrow's quarters.

What kind of weather do you have back East? The steeplechase events have been postponed due to weather. The distance runners are suffering.

Dylan Sorensen finished 8th in his heat in 8:58 and will not advance. He may have peaked a few weeks too early: as he had a big PR in the 1500 a couple of weeks ago but was unable to improve much on his earlier steeple efforts.

Looks like Lauren gregory will advance on time to the NCAA with a 10:24 steeple. Nice effort by her.

Yes, Lauren is our next representative in Eugene. She did not have one of the top three places in the three heats, but she was #4 in her heat, but with the 6th best time overall. Thus, she moves on according to her time. Kelsey Malmquist also ran, but did not move on:

Dylan Sorensen was 22nd out of 48, and he did not move on as reformation has indicated, but he was the highest placing freshman in the steeplechase, just beating out Dakota Peachtree from High Point.

The women's 4x100m relay finished 4th in their heat:
Heat 3 Pl Team Name Time 1 Clemson 43.70 2 Florida State 44.04 3 Connecticut 44.48 4 Georgetown 44.85 5 Virginia Tech 44.86 6 Western Kentucky 44.96 7 Eastern Michigan 45.38 8 Central Florida 45.43
The top three make it automatically, but the Hoyas had the best next mark, so I believe they are going to Eugene.
EDIT: The Hoyas are indeed going to Eugene with the 9th best time. I think this may be the first time the Hoyas qualified a 4x100m relay team for nationals.

Rachel Schneider ran a good race to finish 4th in her heat to move on to Eugene. Her time was 4:19.16. Lauren Borduin in the same heat ran 4:28.04 and did not move on. Rachel was the only freshman from the east regionals to make the 1500m at Eugene.

Kenny Mitchell ran a great 200m, but just missed out on qualifying for Eugene. Had the wind been legal (2.0 mps), he would have set the school record.
