Greg Hicks scouting report:
"Johnson is one of the more versatile prospects in the class of 2012. He’s got a very good basketball body, with length and above average athleticism. He’s not a great scorer just yet, but he shoots it well to the stripe and he can score inside over size. He’s also a very good passer and rebounder. It’s possible he eventually grows into a power forward, but he’s one of the top prospects in the country regardless of the position he ends up playing."

From Telep this weekend:
"Xavier Johnson, SF, Pump Elite: Before missing the entire second half with an ankle injury, Johnson did chin-ups on the rims at Bishop Gorman. He brought all kinds of energy into the building to the point where he missed a 3-pointer and followed up with his own tip dunk. He’s a high-level lefty athlete with a respectable jumper."

From Scout's Greg Hicks on Johnson's play this past weekend at the Double Pump Tournament:
"Xavier Johnson, 6-6 SF Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral. Johnson had a very good showing this weekend as he showed off his versatile game. Unlike a lot of young small forwards that want to play strictly on the perimeter, Johnson understands that he has to play inside as well. He’s an above-average rebounder and shot-blocker for a small forward. Johnson has three-point range and he’s developed a very solid mid-range game. A lefty, he does need to work on his right hand and finishing with his off hand around the basket. With continued development, Johnson should be one of the elite prospects in the country for 2012."

Sounds like Hollis. Other than Chol, I'd rather stay on the east coast for recruiting; at least for this class.

This kid has been quoted a couple of times already saying he doesn't really have any interest in leaving California.

Calif. tends to produce good SFs, so I don't mind if we get our guys from out there. Most I have seen from Cali can play inside and outside which is really the best thing you can hope from a SF.

I'd take another SoCal and Bowman, but you can keep the WW.

I'd take Good Wesley any day of the week and twice on Sunday. He wouldn't be a system guy, but he could be a good hatchet man for 10 minutes a game.

Xavier is transferring from his current high school Temecula Chaparral for next season. No word on where he'll be going. Per Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times.

From Rivals article at Adidas Nations event:
"Xavier Johnson said that he's been gone so much that he hasn't really had a chance to talk to many coaches. However, he listed UNLV, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Georgetown and Syracuse."
