Gotta agree with RDF clearly Branch and Biancardi have no clue. For some reason and i think it is based upon Vitales comments when Roscoe commited prior to the Uconn game that he was some kind of long range deep shooter clearly he was confusing him with Doron Lamb. Roscoes a very good hardworking player looking to transition to the 3 in college and beyond but in no way is he an accomplished shooter/ scorer along the lines of a Hamilton or Ray Allen which many in Uconn land have bought into.

Does anyone know their previous rankings to know if they went up or down?

Does anyone know their previous rankings to know if they went up or down? RCSI lists Lubick at 48 in rivals summer ranking and Markel at 74 so they both went down Not sure about the others.

Sounds about right Luckily rankings don't matter.

I'm curious as to how Markel Starks(#80) is worse than a player he completely outclassed at the Capitol Classic in Ryan Harrow(#19). I'm also curious as to how Enes Kanter, who is having a mediocre season, leaving many people to forget about his hype before he committed to Kentucky is better than Jared Sullinger.

Rivals rankings aren't great anyway. Scout is the one better for basketball in the first place. Their new rnakings should be up next week. Still wouldn't be surprised if our recruits fell. We know they're good and that's all that matters.

FWIW, Rivals ranks guys based on pro potential, rather than how good they are at the moment. Therefore ranking a guy like Kanter ahead of Sullinger does not mean that they necessarily think Kanter is the better player right now, but that they think he will be the better NBA player in the long-term. I have heard some people say that Sullinger is a guy who just matured early, and that he therefore does not have as high of a ceiling as other guys in the class, so even though he is clearly one of the best in the class right now, they think others will pass him by. Maybe that factors into the rivals analysis. Another good example of that is Moses. If you were simply ranking the Top 150 players in the country right now, he probably doesn't make the list. But because of his size and athleticism he has a lot of potential, which is why he is Top 100.
Obviously the rankings are a total crapshoot anyway, but when you start ranking guys based on who you think they'll be in the future rather than who they are right now, it's even more inexact.

I like reading the rankings but the politics of these lists is rediculous. Its all about making people happy. Look at previous lists and see how many Duke and Carolina players are rated alot higher than they deserve. Or certain players from certain AAU teams get high marks. I was at an AAU tourney rivals was at and their recap was so well off based that I questioned was I watching the right game.
In regards to our guys Starks low ranking was due to the fact he didn't play AAU. If he was with Assault or Takover he would have been rated alot higher. I think he is one of the most underrated guards in the country.

I miss the days when were reeling in top recruits like Sims and Macklin.
I hate when we get stuck with 3-star talent like Green and Hibbert.
In any event, I'm excited for our class coming in, and excited that our names are in the hat for several of 2011's top names to complement them.

Roy and Jeff were actually each 4 star recruits in Scout's final 2004 rankings. One of the biggest myths perpetuated by Hoya fans is that Roy and Jeff were not considered studs coming out of high school. They were - with Jeff blowing up quite late in his high school career after running with Assault.
Rankings are helpful tools and I don't think there is any reason to dismiss them. While obviously not 100% accurate, the players that Rivals and Scout identify as top players are "more often than not" accurate.
Indeed, I'd also argue that it's way to early to shut the book on Macklin and Sims's ability to succeed. Macklin actually had a pretty nice season for the Gators and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a shot in the league.
I really like our 2010 class. Three four star players and a three star is a nice class. It is our 2009 class that still irks me - particularly given all of the top talent that we are now involved with in 2011. I don't see any reason why Georgetown should be fishing the bottom of the barrell in April for recruits like we have been, and it seems like III has finally gotten the message across to his assistants given their work on the class of 2011.

rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/rankings/rank-273No jeff or Roy scout doesn't have their top list for 2004 apparently anymore, but Jeff was a 4 star but the #19 PF in the class Roy was also a 4 star and the #14 C in the class. They were definitely down near the bottom of the top 100. Yes jeff blew up late. Roy was injured his sophomore season and missed some run in the summer too. They definitely turned out better than their rankings/how they were regarded. yes it's played up a bit. It's not like no one else new about these kids, but they were underrated.

Neither Roy nor Jeff made the RSCI Top 100. I think they both made one Top 100 list apiece. Jeff had blown up locally but was nationally unknown. Roy hadn't blown up in anyone's mind except a few people on this board.
