'06 Class was most successful and why "ranking" can matter. These guys might not have been great players--but they all thought they were and were ready to take on the competition level that they faced--weren't scared on big stage.
In '07 season-everyone accepted their roles--and it was best Georgetown team in terms of success since 1985--simply by winning league, winning Big East Tournament, and making Final Four. (still say '89 team was best after '85 but you gotta give III the edge for making Final Four).
'08, they all return--and win Big East again, make BET title game, and then the upset in 2nd round. Rivers wasn't happy during the year-and would've bolted sooner if Wright didn't get injured, and Macklin didn't like that Greg Monroe was coming--and didn't want to share spotlight--even though he'd have benefitted so much from playing with a big like Monroe.
Summers was outstanding as a SF his FR season. Was a good player his Soph/JR seasons that didn't like being played at PF spot, didn't take on the challenge of being a great player-because he wanted to be a SF--and it showed. I dont' blame him all for that--thought he should've played SF his career-and would've flourished this year if he stayed--but he was a solid player for 2 years and put up some offensive numbers last year but that was about it.
'07 guards are great.
'08 class has chance to be III's best--if Monroe stays--and the team achieves what most think is possible. Monroe, Clark, and Hollis Thompson (know he was a RS FR this year--but he came in with the Monroe/Clark/Sims group). Henry Sims still has chance to make an impact--but it's up to him. Look at Brian Zoubek's career--and I personally think Sims is more gifted--but it's about doing something to help the team and "getting it".
This year's class--very nice group and needed!
'11 class BETTER be III's best class--and appears to be shaping up that way when you look at who Hoyas are involved with--now they just need to land them.
