I've been catatonic away since the catastrophic, dreadful, depressing disappointing last game of the season.
Now that the hysterical, ridiculous, absurd, finger pointing analytical commentary and blame game appreciation of our coach and team has been thoroughly discussed, the Final Four is at hand. I thought perhaps it might now be safe to resurface and add to my post count the discussion once again.
First, if we all think it is excruciating tough on us to see @$*@&$ teams like Duke, Butler and WVU in the Final Four... imagine how it must be for Coach, Staff and Team! They surely KNOW they are good enough to be right in the middle of this thing. If they all look at this realistically and honestly, it could be the best possible motivation for next season -- especially if Greg really does come back as he said he wants to. Of course, that was in the "heat of the moment" and I would not revile hate accuse begrudge him if that changes once his career and financial options are clearly laid out for him. After all, we all know that I have the right he has the right to make the best decision for himself and his family.
But, if he DOES come back!?!?! WOW that would be huge.
During my self-imposed banishment absence from the board, I also noticed we won a recruiting battle and got yet another highly regarded recruit -- an athletic big guy! Great! Exactly what we need, even if it takes him some time to catch up with American basketball, fundamentals, and "the system".
I also LOVE the idea that at least for the moment for the first time in a long time, we actually have a FULL ROSTER for next season. That has to help with practice I'm talkin about PRACTICE!! AND -- hopefully -- with Depth for next season. I do think lack of depth set this team back -- fear of foul trouble, pressure on the starters, the stress of the season, tired legs and such.
I also think it will take Austin some time to adjust to his new medical condition and regimen. He was not the same Austin after the diagnosis as he was before. He now has an entire off season to get acclimated and return to his prior truly extraordinary level of performance.
Finally, I LOVE JT3. Anyone who knows me or has followed my posts knows that. But I do think it is fair to acknowledge that the '09 team went seriously off the rails and the '10 team was wildly inconsistent. The team did not seem to be emotionally prepared for many of their games this season. The disappointments of the past two seasons need to be recognized by and addressed by the Coach. He deserves SUPER appreciation and acknowledgment for the fantastic performances against Nova, Duke, Cuse and others. But he also needs to learn from the excruciating horrific unforgivable unfortunate losses.
I believe JT3 is constantly learning and improving, and my prediction is he will prove it on the recruiting trail for the class of 2011 and on the court next season -- especially if we are all so fortunate that Greg comes back and plays one more year for the Blue and Gray!
Thanks to the entire team and coaching staff for a REALLY exciting 2010 Season. The UPs were fantastic! We loyal fans are behind you all the way!
In closing Screw Duke HOYA SAXA!!

Amen to your post. Love to see intelligent ridicule/sarcasm aimed where deserved. I think we all are rooting for a relatively uneventful offseason with health--physically, socially, and academically for the team. Perhaps a couple of verbal commits for 2011 would be nice as well.

Maybe we should summarize what has happened since March 19. I'll start:
1. We signed a 6'9" Jewish kid from Nigeria. He was debating between GU and Indiana. After visiting the sunny metropolis of Bloomington, Indiana, IU fans were hoping he would sign with the Hoosiers. However, the recruit either caught a bad case of the flu, or JT2 broke all sorts of NCAA regulations to get him here, and he signed with Georgetown.
2. Several posters were so overjoyed with how the season ended, they decided they couldn't stay away any longer and began sharing their thoughts with everyone. To summarize: Frank Martin is the world's greatest coach, the Princetown offense still stinks, and if we had Evan Turner, John Wall and Brian Zoubek on our team, and we were coached by some Tom Izzo-Bob Huggins-Brad Stevens Frankenstein-like creation we would have won the tourney. And oh yeah, the team needs more bake sales.
3. Something happened regarding health care reform.

I believe we also discussed a proposal that the program start violating NCAA rules in order to land better athletes. Oh, and we boldly reached the conclusion that our 2010 starting lineup will be comprised of some combination of five Georgetown basketball players. Two will likely be tall. Two will likely be smaller but faster and better jump shooters. One will be something in the middle.

SIRSAXA, as usual, right on point. LIC, maybe we need another weight room, the guys kind of spend a little less time there than we need. Perhaps, they don't like the smell.

Something like 150, I think.

Nice post SirSaxa. HoyaTalk has not been the place "where seldom is heard, a discouraging word" lately. What is the opposite of a fair weather fan? Most posters on this board after a loss. Can somebody blame the Princeton offense again, please? And what about the facilities? Aren't they really at fault here? The older I get the more perspective I gain. I used to always love to watch the other conferences records in the big dance versus the Big East to point out how superior our conference was. Then cam this year and the dismal showing from all but WVU. I realized it really is about draw and match ups and a hot hand on a particular night. That is single elimination for you. It takes skill and determination to win six in a row in the NCAA tournament. It also takes a bit of luck and the right match ups. I believe our Hoyas can be back in the Final Four next year. A little older, a little stronger, and a little wiser. In JTIII I trust.

To answer your thread title in a word: No.
To expound a bit: You are far too positive. You will never fit in here.
Best wishes,

It's never safe, Saxa.
Just remember, to avoid fainting, keep repeating "It's only a message board...It's only a message board..."
(Well, I was gonna' go with "They won't stay dead!", but I thought that was too easy.)
