I don't understand the sycophants on this board (all ex-Hoya Bluers I'm sure) who refuse to tolerate any criticism of JT III. JT seems like a good guy, but the idea that he is a great coach is absurd. You become great when you win a championship. Not to mention the best adjective to describe the last three years of Hoya Basketball is underachieving (and grossly at that). If there is a silver lining in any of this, hopefully we (a) get rid of those III t-shirts with the ridiculous slogans on the back (Now they know, Here we come, are you deleted kidding me) and (b) end that stupid "We are Georgetown" chant that I had never heard of until III came to GU and that about 100 other schools already have. You'd never heard the we are Georgetown chant? Are you ten years old?

I think the t-shirt change is well overdo though, good pt. Enough with cheering for the coach and not the team.

Somebody asked above for the full quote that prompted this discussion. Here it is: Q. What do you think it was about this team this year that could be good enough to beat a Duke or a Villanova on a given night, but also lost some games which you guys were heavily favored?COACH THOMPSON III: You've got to step on the court and play. I think I said this, and you can get caught up in heavily favored. We lost to some good teams that probably were better than most people gave them credit for. This team is young. It was something we it's probably the first time I said that all year, because we didn't want to lean on that, we didn't want to talk about that. This is a team with no seniors. And so you still, as much as we did not like I said, it's the first time I said that, we didn't use that as an excuse. But you have to go through some growing pains. And this group went through some growing pains this year. I had a chance to read through the post-game quotes last night at the arena, around the same time people started buzzing about Greg's comments. The entire transcript is here: www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/031810aae.html and is well worth reading. In addition, I would note the last question/answer, in which Coach gives what I think is the proper response to put Greg's remarks about his future in context.
