The NT times has a Thamel article on the SU beat down which carris the same theme. His article is all about the Onuaku injury and how GU is so inconsistent. This is the mantra of the uninformed and/or anti-GU media crew. Thamel is a SU grad. That is all you need to know about his objectivity.

How can you BE objective when you can't even spell it?

what did she say that was wrong?
the ups and downs of this team have frustrated us...i mean haven't we vented about how we could lose to South Florida, Rutgers, and then beat Duke and Villanova as well?
the effort against South Florida would not bode well for us down the road unless we stepped up against the likes of the Syracuses. We stepped up yesterday against 'Cuse.
Now, which Hoya team will show up tonight against Marquette?
whether she is a women or based in New York, the basic premise of the entire article is no different from what we have said about this team all year.
Where is the Post bias? She is brainwashing Liz?
really?
seriously?
What makes us better than Jenkins to slander and insult her?
Is this is what being a Hoya fan is all about these days?
Really?

way, I cannot help but disagree. You do not use 20 point win as an opportunity to point out the faults of the local team with things that liz has re-hashed over and over. It actually just does not make sense, does it? It is that simple.
Also, she ignored the strategy that the Hoyas used which was make USF beat us by making shots, rather she took a very strange approach in saying our defense had very little to do with it. Also, negatively commenting on Austin Freeman's emotional demeanor is just not good writing.
What makes it even more obvious this was a canned report? Where is the follow-up article today about the great SU win? Really bad form by her.

Yes, there is nothing suspect about:
- Watching the Hoyas beat one of our inconsistent losses by 20 -- several days after beating another team by 25 -- and focusing solely on the prior inconsistency and claiming the Hoyas did nothing really to beat the other team, then...
- When the Hoyas beat the #3 team in the country the next day, which would argue against your inconsistency thesis (though admittedly not disprove), write absolutely nothing about this win.

As for not writing an article after the Hoyas' win yesterday: that is likely out of Jenkins' control. Columnists typically have articles run 2-3 times a week rather than daily and that's at the discretion of the editors.

Really? That was obvious. About as obvious as saying WVU would have to play better than it did last night if it expects to win the crown this weekend. Players do realize they have to step up their games against the better teams after all. Did Jenkins think the Hoyas didn't know that? The point that Ms Jenkins missed is that any team can be beaten by another. Wins aren't guaranteed. USF had in fact beaten the same Hoyas weeks earlier on the Hoyas' own floor. So the fact that Gtown was able to defeat USF (who was on a four or five game winning streak) on a neutral court by 20 points despite all sorts of foul troubles was a definite step in the right direction. Period. Ms Jenkins acted however as if it was insulting that the Hoyas didn't beat USF by 50 points. Perhaps she should have used some context. Look at all the high seeds that have fallen like flies in the BE Tournament the last couple of days. Look how a rested WVU BARELY escaped Cincy last night. In retrospect Gtown's beatdown of USF is in some ways the most impressive victory considering the final margin. The Hoyas were only one slot above USF but still managed to win relatively comfortably. Jenkins and Clark thoug acted as if the Hoyas should have apologized for their performance. It was overkill. But most of all my problem with Jenkins is that she has not kept up with the Hoyas this season so her words of condemnation hold very little weight. I could at least respect where Liz was coming from because she has been around the team all year. I could even respect it if those words have come from Mike Wise who at least keeps up with the local teams because of his radio show and his duties as a regular Washington Post columnist. However Sally barely keeps aware of men's college hoops and worst of all she lives in New York and probably didn't know even three of the Hoyas' starters going into yesterday's game. So her "attempt" at analysis of the team fell flat IMO.

Columnists typically have articles run 2-3 times a week rather than daily and that's at the discretion of the editors. There will definitely be at least one column per day for the ACC tourney. As soon as Maryland starts playing there may be as many as two.

Remember that journalism these days is all about eyeballs and money. The Post caters to the biggest reader audience. That audience is Maryland fans. They sell ads for papers and on-line to companies that pay for readers eyeballs. Not enough Hoya fans out there I guess. Not enough Terp fans either considering the paper keeps losing readers and subscribers. So lets shoot down that old excuse. Truth is there aren't that many targeted WPost readers who are legitimately interested in crime and poverty of certain neighborhoods AND YET the Post correctly continues to cover these issues in these neighborhods. You see you go to the story, you don't always let readers dictate the story.

Here the post headline tomorrow: Turtles Lose in heartbreaker.
Then somewhere down in a little box: Hoyas overcome Marquette.

Tony K, even though he is friends with psycho Gary, said on the radio this morning that Georgetown would beat Maryland if the two teams played. I couldn't agree more about the relative volume of local coverage, and Jenkins's column was way overwritten and too negative. But we're getting some love here and there. We'll get more if we keep earning it.

Sent an e-mail to the Post this morning (sports@washpost.com) suggesting that now that MD, Va Tech, and Virginia have checked out of the ACC Tournament it might want to consider dedicating some resources to the best team in the DC area. Also told them that Yanda did a great job at burying the lede in his story on the Terps pathetic effort and that Jenkins article was abysmal.

If its not allowed to be posted on the board please send it if you can to me as a PM. Thanks.
