To our kids.
99 percent of the teams in this country would've packed up at the 12 minute mark. We didn't.
This team may lack depth, a true small forward, another big man, and any number of things.
What it doesn't lack is heart and guts.
Great job guys.

Double Plus Yes.
I am so frustrated that they let Syracuse take them out of their game and played poor defense in the first half.
But there's no question about their "want to."
We make free throws, we win this game. Damn!
But love the effort. Just hope they can keep it up. Louisville is going to be damn difficult.

Agreed. This hurts like hell but I'm proud of those guys for continuing to fight...

I will restate Wright=heart ... no more posts about desire. Again, 18-21 years olds 20+ games into a long season; undermanned with a thin bench; guys playing 35+ minutes; I have been to many and watched every game. Guess what... I am tired watching. Image playing this many minutes. Wow. p.s. I like the idea of back to back to back to back games in the Big East. I think this team will do just fine.

Thanks for starting this thread. Good show of heart by this team. Would have loved the win but this game solidifies the Hoyas prospects in the NCAA. This team can play with a team with abig athletic frontline that plays a zone. No other team they will face in the NCAA will have a zone as long and as good as the Cuse. This team can beat anyone. Now, will someone explain to me what Sims did in the first half that was so bad that he got no PT the rest of the way. Everyone on the team was making mistakes. The Hoyas could have used his height. Monroe's outside shot and freethrows have gone south the last 3 games.

I'm sure this was posted elsewhere, but I believe the comeback started when Wright got the technical with Rautins. Hated the number of Orange shirts, hated watching us get pushed around for about 30 minutes, but I loved, loved, loved the effort in the second half. Even the crowd redeemed itself.
Wish Clark's three had dropped, but we gave ourselves one legitimate shot at winning. Down 21, that's all I could have hoped for. We've got no choice but to try to build on it now.

This is a good thread. I am sure there is going to be so much negativity on this board about the game, but these guys never quit. It is not like they were not trying to stop SU who was near perfect in the 1st half. It was similar to the way we came out against Nova and Duke this year, except our guys made the comeback and nearly won a game that would have been an all-timer.
Tough loss, hope it leads to a renewed high level of play.

Great comeback, monroe should have touched the ball though instead of the clark three, just my opinion. Would have been nice to bring it sice the start of the game.. still upset over this game...

I agree. With their two bigs gone, we should have pushed it inside if possible. Too many missed free throws. Even with their shooting 90% from the line, if we make a few more free throws, we win this game.

I hope this game frames the rest of the season. We needed to get spanked in the first half, where we couldn't use excuses like "we're better but just came out flat" (see USF, RU). They beat the hell out of us in the 1st half because they were just flat out better, and we needed to learn that we don't have the margin of error that we sometimes play like we do.
But, the second half was just all about fight. And we toughed through it, dragged ourselves back into it, and had a very good shot that could have beenthe difference. There is a lot to take away from this game.
Not to bring too much negativity, but had we just beaten RU on Sunday, this loss wouldn't sting at all. Sorry to mention that, but I've stayed away from the board this past week because Sunday broke my heart and I needed to vent a little.

The comeback was so impressive it even jolted Dickie V out of his nonstop Syracuse lovefest.

One barely drew iron , the other was an airball that missed the rim by a foot.,

Look, I understand the desire to want to see Sims get more PT but as far as playing time goes, I have to trust the coach. He sees how the players perform day in and day out, in practice and in game. I have to believe there is a rational reason JTIII doesn't put him in the game.

I certainly hope so too - but I don't know what to expect anymore. I have never seen such an inconsistent Hoya team. From great to awful and back again. Both game to game and within the same game!

I agree but the young man has got to play through fatigue and demand the ball, like Samuels did last night for Louisville. Samuels played more minutes than Monroe did, but he worked hard for position and demanded ball each time on offense., Monroe just has to be more assertive and stronger in holding position. The kid played hard though so you can't fault the effort. Just wish he would become automatic at the freethrow line like Samuels was last night for Louisville. If he does this next game against Samuels and Louisville then all is well.,
