I'm sure I will be lambasted for some reason, but for the handful who will actually appreciate this:
My wife and I were very pleased to "stumble" onto this new talent. She played last night in Gainesville, and in all honesty, we didn't expect anything special. But this lady is talented. She is a Serbian Blues Guitarist/Singer. The band behind her last night included a bassist from Finland who was excellent, a drummer from the Ukraine who was also very good and a keyboardist from St. Louis of all places. I am sure that some will quickly throw me under the bus with some sort of "you think that's good" type of comment. Others might take the high road and say that they've known about her talents for years. In any case, I think those who appreciate good music, and specifically traditional blues, grounded strongly in the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, while also still cherishing the raw guitar of a Jimi Hendrix, will at some point thank me.
I was pleasantly surprised at the number of clips on Ana Popovic, and there isn't anything super-special about this particular one. I just picked out one that really seemed to capture both her natural abilities as well as her traditional blues sound.
thoughts on her music?
