I would not want to finish 7th place in a seven-bid league. As others have noted, this ignores our strong out of conference performance and overall "resume," which remains very solid. Technically, what place you finish in your conference is irrelevant to the NCAA selection committee.

Right now our path to the BET final would be Seton Hall, 'Nova, and Pitt. We're 3-1 against those teams. I'd take that. With an unbalanced schedule, if it doesn't save you a game in the BET, the seed's just a number.

I would, of course, not sacrifice any Ws in the next 4, but as of right now the BET draw as the 6 or the 7 looks better than the 5 (not to mention night games, which is more convenient for those of us attending). I would like to avoid UConn on Wednesday and get Nova on Thursday if we get there.

The BET is one thing, but how we close out the season has a significant impact on the tourney and our chances. As recently as 8 days ago, we were a legit #2 seed ahead of WVU and Pitt. Now, we are probably barely holding on to #3, and WVU and Pitt definitely have strong cases for more favored status. If we are a #4 or #5, it's a much crappier draw. i wouldnt want to be seeing Texas or Vanderbilt in the second round of the NCAAs.

Agree 100% - and finishing the last 4 strong is far and away priority no. 1. I was just noting that, once the regular season finishes, being the 6 or 7 seed in the BET might be better than being the 5 in terms of our chances of succeeding in NYC.

Of course we want to win these games, but these are not win or go home, 7th game of a best of 7 series kind of games, so we should not treat them as such.
If we can't get a BET bye, the most important thing is to prepare for the BET and NCAA tournaments, and that means give some minutes to Vee and Sims, so that it would be even remotely possible that we could play 3 or 4 days in a row at MSG and/or survive foul trouble in a BET or NCAA tournament game. I can't imagine that a few minutes for Vee and Henry in each half would lose the game, so I think the risk/reward calculation is on the side of the potential reward.

With an unbalanced schedule, if it doesn't save you a game in the BET, the seed's just a number. I mean, yes being 8-6 and 7th in the Big East right now is a cause for concern, but conference records don't mean as much as they used to due to the unbalanced schedules. I can't imagine anyone having a tougher conference schedule than us: we play the top two teams (Syracuse, Villanova) twice, and the next four teams (West Virginia, Pitt, Louisville, Marquette) only on the road. I mean, even with playing bottom feeder Rutgers twice, I can't imagine a tougher draw. However, I think it can also be a great thing because it really prepares us for the postseason and ups our strength of schedule, which is currently #1 in the country. We've had some tough losses, but we are still in good shape - maybe not for a double bye anymore, but for a good seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, a lot of that goes out the window if we can't beat Louisville. Things could get really dicey. So yeah, let's beat them. Finally, really glad that the Big East Tournament will include all 16 teams for the second straight year, especially with the way anybody can beat anybody this year. Initially opposed to including all teams, I've come around and I think it needs to stay this way. As JT III has said, it's the only way to make it fair with the unbalanced schedules. Even the Tuesday games should be pretty fun to watch. Boy do I love the Big East.

How far has Oklahoma fallen this season? They are 21 point dogs tonight. That is really unbelievable considering they were top 10 to start the season. And you thought Gtown had a bad fall off last season?
