As usual, the Hoyas rely on their track prowess to the exclusion for the field part of the program. The men and women are represented well in the 60, 200, 400, 500, 800, 1000, mile, 3000m, 60H, 4x400, 4x800, DMR. Almost nothing in the field events. Tanore Barrow might be our only field representative. Maybe Ayo in the TJ. We might not run our best runners in each event, since the 400 and 500 are similar, so those good in the 400 will be good in the 500; the same with the 800 and 1000. We do not have anyone qualified in the 5000m. You may remember that Dan Nunn set a meet record in the 5000m last year.

From the Big East site:
With both the men's and women's teams winning the BIG EAST Indoor Championship titles in 2008 and 2009, Connecticut will look to become the only school in BIG EAST history to have both the men's and women's programs win back-to-back-to-back Indoor Championship titles in the same year. Individually, only the Georgetown men's team has won three straight championships and on the women's side only Villanova has won three consecutive. The Hoya men own the record for successive championships with four which they achieved twice (1998-2001; 1988-1991) and the Wildcats own the women's record with six straight titles (1983-1988).

The men's hurdlers:
Heat 1 3. Justin Crawford 8.05
Heat 2 3. Biyerem Okengwu 8.12
Heat 3 1. Chris Kinney 7.83 (fastest qualifier and maybe school record) 3. Kamryn Austin 8.16
I think we have at least two qualifiers in Chris and Justin.
Just in Biyerem joins Chris and Justin as the Hoyas have three of the eight finalists.

Good PR for Rachel Schneider--Emily was probably disappointed in third as the villanova runners really distanced themselves from gu with their final 400 kicks--the villanova women unfortunately have really separated themselves from GU this yr
