Senior shooting guard at Lake Clifton headed to Notre Dame Prep (MA) PG. No word if we're interested. “I’ve been watching a lot of college games and seeing where I can fit in and be an impact player,” Johnson said. “I didn’t know [how I would fit in at] Georgetown, but I like them a lot. I normally see a Florida State or UConn in the picture. But I have to put Georgetown in the top two or three. Georgetown, Pitt and UConn are at the top right now.” weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/college/recruiting/2010/02/lake_cliftons_durand_johnson_talks_recruiting.html

Don't know if the Hoyas are interested and don't know if the kid is any good, but I just love reading comments about players checking out Gtown on TV and gaining interest in Gtown. From what I've read here, on HoyaBalla and from HR this stuff seems to be happening more and more. Its a good sign.

Yeah, pretty amazing when you consider that no kid would want to play in such a constrictive system .

Holdup. Red flag:
The defending Class 3A state champions lost the bulk of their production to graduation last year. But by adding Johnson -- a transfer from Parkville -- and former DeMatha point guard Josh Selby, the No. 4 senior in the country according to Rivals.com, the Lakers expected great results immediately. Those expectations fell short.
“I thought things were going to be different,” Johnson said. “I just thought we were going to have it easy and teams were just going to give us stuff. But right off the bat, we lost our first game. Before you know it, we lost three games. We saw that guys [weren't] giving it to us, so we have to earn and take what we want. Teams aren’t going to lay down for us. Coach [Herman] “Tree” [Harried] told us that everybody that plays us, it’s like a championship game for them. Now we know how to deal with it and take over games and win.”
He thought other teams were simply going to lay down and die for his squad; give them stuff? WTF?

He is a decent talent. Definately worth a look after a year at prep. Decent height and nice stroke but settles on it too much. Would love to keep that Bmore pipeline going!!!

I blame Herman Harried.

From Scout article today:
"The dedication and desire to be great is what schools across the country see in Johnson. According to Johnson, the 6’7”, 190-pound shooting guard has received offers from Maryland, South Florida, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Cincinnati, Providence, Georgetown, Rutgers, St. John’s, DePaul, Marquette and Virginia.
Of the teams interested in Johnson’s talents, he said Missouri, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Clemson and Miami are all 'coming at me hard.'
'I don’t have a top four. I’m open for everyone,' he said."

So of the teams coming at him "hard," only one has made an offer? That's a bit confusing. Methinks the kid may be rambling a bit.

I've seen him play and he is a talent. Overshadowed by the super ego of Josh Selby. I would love to have him at Gtown. Can shoot the ball well and not he's attacking the basket hard. A year of prep and nice prospect. He told me he likes Pitt and Marquette a lot.

According to Telep, Johnson's top 5 is Pitt, Seton Hall, St. John's, Marquette and Louisville.

I have not seen him play, but apparently had a great summer. HoopScoop has him ranked as #3 5th yr player in the country and think he falls somewhere in the top 25 - 40 range if he was ranked with the rising seniors.
Seems like hardwoodhoya was on the money with his assessment.
